Well the people taking advantage of the the so Called bugs, know what I am talking about. . .What's funny is that I will prob get banned or suspended over my posts, b4 any of the people who have taken this "bug" to extremes.

As an officer of a large guild on Argo, and a ban recipient of the mabar event by mistake while trying to run deleras, do you as the general population really trust turbine to do this fairly or even correctly?
they wont listen to playerbase on these bugs/exploits from lam, let them go live, and now you want them to ban the player base?

Id give him the seal--also all my Epic Tokens, my LOB Spirits, all my pieces of shroud pies, my essences of cleansing. . .And then I would quit the game, if I had a friend htat had asked me to do this, instead of asking me to run quests/raids to help them get what they want.

You guys are just not getting this--it is so much bigger than shards and seals. That Turbine does nothing about it is just disgusting.

So Ill take the hit, and maybe, turbine will do something.

I'd say no, and then have a short talk with him about the value of integrity and not being a cheater. And then reassess whether or not we're really friends based on how he answers.

gloopygloop is right -- I'm naive. I should have realized that even though there are a lot of really good people in this community, a large chunk of them don't care about cheating. It makes positions like mine seem pollyannaish. I'm not going to "go with the flow" and start cheating myself, but I guess I should stop letting this bother me.

The behavior of Turbine's management is far more inexplicable. How can a company willingly allow their own reputation and that of one of their prime assets to degrade when they could correct it?

ETA: It is too late for bannings.. the abuse is widespread. The real outcome of this needs to be a redoing of Turbine's processes for handling these problems. Because right now, they are extremely flawed.

I find it interesting that you'll both take a highly moral position regarding following both the letter and the spirit of the rules while breaking the community guidelines by involving yourself in a discussion involving moderation actions that have been taken.

KK joined this thread way late, and havent got all the way thro it to get a complete hang on it, except that some new exploit has been unvailed by the cheating side of the community... why am I not suprised.

Strange thing is while running a challenge quest this morning with a couple of early bird guildies, I got some random tell from a player asking if I had the seal of Garos Malic and Ring od Elemental Essence... after "oh heck another random tell from a newb!, it was quickly followed up by "look man i really need them, do you have them?"

At this point I felt the easiest way to deal with it was to say..."Yip I have them thanks, but you can't cos they are bound"
Numpty repies... I really want them, I will pay you, how much you want for them ?
Ermm - Pointless question I say... THEY ARE BOUND!

Then after a few mins and thinking the message had sunk in I recieve ... "but what if I showed you how you can sell them to me, would you part with them for a decent amount of plat......"

Hmmm it suddnly began todawn on me this person may have found about about some new exploit, to which I tell him to go away.. ever so politely you understand.. then when I looked in the who list the player had logged str8 away... so I am no guessing this player was changing alts and going down the who list asking the question to all insundry hoping to hook a fish by chance.

Anyhow... for reference, in case this is wayb of the mark a PM to let me know what's been discovered so I can avoid / report in future wouldbe useful

banning not withstanding, if you cheat you lose , simple as that.

First offense, you lose half of your accumulated favor and everything it corresponds to on that account.

Second offense, you lose ALL of your accumulated favor and everything it accounts for.

The thing is, you seem to be content in allowing Turbine decide what is right or wrong, while others choose to reserve that right for themselves. To them, it's not a matter of breaking the rules, so much as breaking the rules they don't agree with. The thing is, when Turbine makes rules, they make them to reflect what's in Turbines best interests, not necessarily what would make the game better or more fun.

I also find most of the "exploits" I've heard about in this game more a matter stupid dev mistakes than devious cheaters. More exploits of opportunity, some so obvious that it's just silly. Rather than exploits of intent that require someone to actually spoof the game to effect.

Im not asking Turbine to ban people, I want them to fix it like they shouldve done a long time ago. I was exaggerating in making a point.

They chose not to fix it, many people are misinformed about the depth of the situation, I choose to share the information so people can then understand why long time players like myself are worried that this will damage the game forever.

One smalll thing that can fix some of the imbalance for the new players/people late to the game/stuck doing holidays stuff is to spread the info so so that it isn't just the rich and the vets getting richer, so that maybe in the 24 hrs remaining b4 Turbine takes the servers down Monday, some of the newer or poorer or recently returned to the game, can do what the vets have been doing all week.

And yes, I do find it disgusting that TURBINE did nothing about this when first reported by quite a few people. They couldve hot patched it this week, b4 the weekend.

That's the issue I now have.. not knowing at the time that this may be something new for the cheaters out there.. I just presumed it was an idiot who didn't understand BtC, BtA an Unbound logic... hence why I would be interested to know if details of what could be happening... cos I still have a vague memory of the toon name and thier guild.. so with a little investagative use of the friends/who lists I would still be able to report them.

if you took a screen shot of the conversation I guess it might help especially the bit where he said he could show you how to trade the items.

That would be the second best way to cause a mass exodus from the game.

The first would be doing what the title of the thread says.

SOMETHING needs to be done. Probably a VERY large chunk of endgame players are involved, by all accounts of the situation. LFMs are down enough as it is, banning 50%+ of endgame players WILL kill this game.

It's a fine line between punishing those who did it so that they think twice about it next time, but not causing them to just leave.

And if the servers are rolled back (which is difficult to do), many people will just leave as well. If I lose the 14 TR levels I just gained I'm gonna be ****ed...

It's a delicate situation. You can climb into the stirrups of your moral high horse and say "ban EVERYONE" but there is a lot more going on here then morality issues. Don't cut your nose off to spite your face, as my daddy always' said.

But at least fix it, it's been a week!
