Default My dear Sarlona what have you come to

So while leveling my TR farming "Eyes of Stone" hard after 3 completions I decide why not I'll throw up a LFM saying "Hard/Byoh/Zerg" ... So I get a cleric, wiz, arti, and a sorc. After I'm about half way through the quest they finally zone in and right off the bat 2 die... they get raised and I head to the end fight the same 2 (cleric and wiz) die again. I have a big mouth and say "Byoh must be an ancient language." and they wiz replays with "We dont have AC or DR you idiot" now my fighter only has 25ac and 1dr atm so I explained that, and he comes back with "well we dont have resists."... coming from a wiz... I didnt know it was hard to comprehend an LFM or use a spell to adapt when you lose your ship buffs. After leaving the group I put together I decided to myddo both of them and no surprise neither of them had heavy fort. As for the arti and sorc the sorc died 1 time but by then I was to locked in my conversation with the wiz to really care, and sometimes stuff happens and you cant avoid it, but I dont understand why I'm being call an idiot for their in capability to comprehend. Then again I put up with the same think end game and get raged at when people tell someone they need heavy fort. I see this kind of additude everywhere "If you dont like the way I play you dont have to accept me in your groups" well gtfo, recall for mana then idc but yet they stay... Yes soulless pug rant blah blah idc..

i figure the primary reason to PuG was entertainment value.

any helpful actions taken by PuGs are presumed to either be on the same order as the Thousand Monkeys on a Thousand Typewriters concept, or the player is to my surprise actually competent.

that said, usually BYOH keeps the really awfully bad ones away. i guess you probably forgot to apply your n00b repellent. did you remember to specify that the H doesn't stand for hireling?

I'm actually steering far away from BYOH, ZERG and have a clue. Those groups just aren't for me. I'm a casual player who is quite squishy even while I have taken quite a few precautions (heavy fort, blindness immunity, FF, WB, some resists from the chrono set) and I just don't think I could manage in such a group, basically because I don't zerg, don't have a clue (it's usually my first or second time playing the quest) and the own heals I bring is that blue SP bar that other party members seem to mistake for their own health bar.

So don't worry about me, I'll never respond to your LFMs. To each his/her own. If you ever want to take a cleric by his hand through a quest and give some pointers, I'm your man.

'Excuse me! You're supposed to turn more of your blue points into my red points. DO IT NAO!!!! MOOOOOOOMMMMMMMM!!!! He's not touching me with Blue Points! No mom, the game is not illegal! Nothing is wrong except that he won't make my red bar bigger! OMG, heeeellllp me!'

My first character was a cleric. Let em all die, you don't need them.

This is why you hand someone the star when you drink.

A DD would have prevented this.

How strange - I can understand and even expect your reaction to a "ZERG" or "have a clue" group, but why BYOH? The whole idea behind BYOH is that you use your own blue bar on yourself, and when others expect you to use it on them you get a good laugh out of it - maybe even bring it to the forums so we can share in your good fortune.

The really fun, laid back groups tend to put BYOH in their LFMs... and sometimes waffles.

I did a byoh lfm on my cleric and kept getting tells of what is a cleric doing posting byoh? None of them liked my answers.

You're right. Coming from an arcane in a CR12 quest, those are some real jaw-droppers.

The problem was taking part in an lfm that requires BYOH. Even if it was yours, those are the ones that you need to steer clear of - nobody that bothers to BYOH actually joins groups asking people to BYOH.

Your experience is far different then mine. My lfm 95% of the time states BYOH or be relatively self sufficient in it, and the majority of the time people are indeed self sufficient. And if not, oh well, you were warned. It also seems to attract healers I find, as they know the folks in the group do not need to be babsat, and can take care of most of their own ailments. My LFMS also state no handholding, as I am not waiting around for the group to meander to the quest or level up or whatever nonsense. They need to find their way to the quest and know where the quest giver is. Of course I make exceptions here and there, but in general I keep a fast, not zerg pace, and expect folks to keep up and handle whatever comes up. If folks don't like that, they can make their own lfms, or join the lfms that say no zerging, slow paced group, new ppl welcome, etc.

I've found that the groups with the most requirements on who may join are usually the ones that tend to have the least success. Also, a good rule of thumb is to avoid groups started by anyone with multiples of the letter x at the front and/or back of their names.

Self-sufficient and no hand-holding: Translation: Party leader is too lazy to pass out buffs or cast haste. Will likely complain if you ask anyone for a restore when your DW clicky goes down.
