    Default Epic Collection Bags

I would like to recommend an epic collection bag that could hold all of a player's shards, seals, scrolls, tokens, fragments, augments, and other epic crafting related items.
The point of this bag would be to help relieve the over-crowding issues of the Ingredients bag and also it would serve as a way to help keep all these epic items organized. Of all the bags the collectables bag is my favorite because it organizes everything into groups. Epic bags could also do this by organizing everything by item. All my SOS shards, seals, and scrolls would be automatically dropped into one category and all my ring of spell storing shards, seals, and scrolls would go in another: ).

Hope you guys like this idea, I am betting you will, and I think DDO will like it because epic bags could prove very popular in the DDO store.

i believe they call this "having more than one ingredient bag".

not broken ==> for the love of all that is holy, please don't let turbine come within a million miles of the code for ingredient bags, it's too risky and i have too many goodies in mine.

Yes, but a separate epic ingredients bag would sort for you. The ONLY organized bit of my ing bag is my epic boots of corrosion, and that's because I pulled the scroll, then seal, then shard all in the same echrono run in that order haha.

I might be wrong but, there's already a search option in the bags...
So, if you keep on bag for your epic stuff (or per epic location) you just type part of the item name, et voilĂ*... problem solved with no dev time.
    So sorry, but not signed.

exactly. i want to see what i have in terms of epic parts for, say, gloves of the claw.

    - open bag
    - click on search bar
    - type "claw"
    - look at the much shorter list (potentially up to 6 items, in my case more likely to be 1-2)

and right now, it has the wonderful advantage that the devs are really unlikely to unwittingly make all the stuff in the bag disappear by tinkering with how it functions, or make it so that it all gets locked into the bag with no way to withdraw it, etc.

if there's one thing i've learned, it's that when the devs start messing with the mess of code they've been left by previous programmers, you cannot predict for certain what will happen.

as such, when it comes to stuff that is working right now, i would much prefer that they stay as far away from it as possible.

not to mention all of the many many things i'd rather they spend time on in the first place.

    still /antisigned.

edit: to put it another way, go find someone who's had a monk for a long time. then try using the phrase "oh come on, what's the worst that could possibly happen from the devs tinkering with something in an effort to improve it."

just make sure you don't try that when you're in a hurry. odds are pretty good that they have a rather extensive list of exactly what could possibly go wrong.

    Default Consider The Benifits

Well a few of you have made some very good points. Yes, we could all just use the search option and its true the server might explode if DDO’s programmers ever tampered with "bag code" : -). But, how many of you have been in an epic raid or an epic quest where everyone was in a rush to roll on a shard or seal?

I don't know about you, but I use one bag to hold all my shards and seals for my entire account simply because they are all bound to account and I can easily pass this bag back and forth from characters. Personally, I can't memorize all those items and the only way to organize them is to pull them all out one at a time then put them back in one at a time in the exact order I want them but if I get a new seal I have to pull a bunch out and start all over. What a pain. With the epic bag, I could open one bag and see exactly if I need a shard or seal in an instant. This way I could determine if I need to roll on an item before it is ever plucked from the chest also I'm not carelessly rolling on a shard someone might need that I already have 5 of. Like that shard of the ring of spell storing for example hehe jk.

My other point was that with all the epic stuff absent from my ingredients bad I can now better organize it as well. Someone suggested that I could simply get another ingredients bag and I agree this would and does help but what I am suggesting is, a bag that is easily discernable from the ingredients bag. Perhaps it would be black or gold, something cool like that and this way I don't waste time opening multiple green bags trying to decide which is which.

Not a bad suggestion at all. Of course, one can always sort his epic stuff in one ingredient bag but I see nothing wrong if there was one for epic goodies. Of course, it should be color-coded to it's own color. Maybe octarine?

Yeah I think I already addressed the 10 green bag method. If you had a counter that showed all the time you spend searching through all those green bags pulling and organizing items inside, you would probably realize my point. Don't worry we can't all be above the curve.

You don't HAVE to organize anything. Just type a phrase in the search bar for the bag. It's faster than looking through collectible bags, so would be faster than any sort of organized bag anyway. Get in the habit of doing this, as it makes finding anything much faster.

Someone putting the seal of the Spectral Gloves up for roll?
    Open bag.
    Click search bar.
    Type in "Spec".
See if you have any pieces.

If you're sharing one bag across all of your characters, making it more organized won't help you in remembering what you have if you aren't carrying the bag on that toon anyway. Also, passing bags full of important stuff back and forth through your shared bank is just asking to lose everything. There's currently a bug that causes bags moving through the shared bank to disappear occasionally. At least one post a week from someone crying over their bag with all of their epic and Shroud ingredients going missing.

If you need to keep track of everything, work up an Excel spreadsheet. List all of the current epic items down the left side, label the columns Scroll, Seal, Shard, and just type into the appropriate box the name of the character that has the particular piece.

    For example:
    Scroll Seal Shard
    Shatterbow Ferrumblood Elochka Ferrumblood

Whenever someone puts something up for roll I say, "Hang on one moment, checking my list." It takes all of 30 seconds.

No more bags, for the love of god!
Give us the option to name each bag, that would be so great that I'll burst into tears the day it will happen.

I have five ingrediant's bags (large) that I trade back and forth on my toons; one with greensteel material, two with epic (scrolls, seals, shards), one with Cannith Crafting material, and the last with miscellaneous that get's picked up. Each toon also has thier own personal medium ingrediant bag with BTC material (de-crafting from house C, rune stones and shavarath stones, and so on). Not to mention to two large bags for collectables and the large gem bag.

I fail to see a reason why another bag should be introduced when the large bags mentioned can be traded between my toons as needs be, and as already mentioned, have the search option within each type of bag for ease of finding materials desired.

Nope....not on board with this idea. The scrolls, shards, and seals are already coded as Ingrediants that fit quite nicely in the green bags. Like many other players, I'm hesitant to have something change that could affect what I currently have that works. And why would I have to spend real money on (as mentioned in the original posting from the DDO store) a bag when I already have something that works? If something like this was implemented....I cannot fathom how much I would lose as I highly doubt (with no offense to Turbine or DDO) that everyone on all servers would receive this bag for free that could contain everything we may already have on our toons.

    so....

    No.

Although I personally have a separate bag already for epic stuff, not everyone has multiple bags. A bag just for epic stuff would be great. Not entirely necessary, but great anyway.

I've got a better idea, instead of more bags how about WE REDUCE THE NUMBER OF INGREDIENTS IN THIS GAME!
