    Default My TR monk

So, my monk is at cap, it's halfling dex/wis based monk, and shintao 3 D but idk what i should do for tr, via stats and feats im a little iffy too, and enchantments even D: so ive concluded im going half-elf for the rouge dielette <- or h/e you spell it, but can't seem to fit void4 in with ease, any suggestions?

I thought I remembered hearing once that shinto 3 and void 4 were impossible to get. Don't quote me cause it was a bit ago. Curious though so I'll have a look.

[EDIT] Ok I did it. Tooka few screw ups though. You can have both shinto 3 and void 4. You really ditch a whole lotta stuff in the process that I feel would be better spent on ap, but you can do it.

And ya I just threw in feats for prerequisites so not the best lookn thing. Also stats are pretty much even all around to cover for all the masters. With tomes could prolly switch here and there.

You could do the same on half but might have to give up maybe dex or something else. I used a cross between the rouge dex and elf dex to get 2 while not having to pay 4ap for the 2nd teir in either.

Like I said you can do it, but honestly a great deal of those points could have gone in very good places instead of the ridiculous prerequisite for void IV.

Stupid forums ate my post, they didn't even let me have any leftovers!

    It said(or mostly said)

Void line is hard to fit in, period.

Gotta fit in all of the stuff for ninja spy, ToD and it's prereqs, all of your stances up to master, and one grandmaster(hopefully you pick two to stay in, though.) and then the void line itself... All while still getting the stuff that's important to your character(Stat increases, healing amp, skill increases, etc.)

If you want me to, I can open up a planner when I get home today and work out balanced enhancements for your toon, or something to base them off of, and let you get most of what you want out of it, maybe all, if you're willing to make sacrifices...

Just need to tell me your main focus, AC, Survivability, DPS, etc.
If your'e staying Dex/Wis, or doing something else for your stats.
And if at all possible, your stats without enhancements added, but gear on, if it's the same gear you plan to use next life, if you can't, that's cool. Enhancements change with gear all the time.

That's the most of what I said... hopefully I can help

Edit: Because I have pride in this area!

Half-Elf = Best choice for Monk race... Why? because, that's why.

To reiterate what Oz said, half-elf is the most powerful race for monks by a landslide.

As far as stats, try and get where you'll get earth 4 and air 4 with a +2 tome. They're incredible to have, if you don't know already. Further, it is very hard to get void into a monk, but if you can do it, it is extremely powerful.

As an addendum, if you can stomach it, going for 36 point build will greatly help....balanced monks are far and wide the most powerful.

Touche... Oh lookie! Oz is in my Forum Name too! But again, it is silent and apparently invisible

But, Yes yes and yes to all three of the things you touched on... Especially about the 36pt build... that's a very important part of having a good well balanced monk.

It all comes down to what you want your monk to be able to do the most. I have a 36 pt horc monk that mainly dishes out incredible amounts of dps, has 65-70 ac depending on gear, void 4 and 600 ish hp.
On other hand i only have grandmastery in fire and my healing amp suffers due to having to spend so much AP on void 4.
So what are your priorities? Let me know and i'll try to help the best i can.

Ps to all you helf people, its not the best race, its the easiest. Helf will never be a min/max race, its just a balanced one. It all comes down to what you want, saying its the best, BY FAR even, is just ridicules. And before you start saying things like i dont know what im talking about, consider that i have a 3rd life helf monk also and my horc monk does do more dps even if the helf one is all around more survivable and has more dc.

    Thumbs up

Don't know where you read that. I've done several shintao III void IV builds. I'm currently running shintao III void IV and got vers IV to fit on also.

For monk DPS, half orc gets:
    +3 Strength
    +3 Power Attack

    Half elf gets:
    25% Damage Boost
    3d6 Sneak Attack

The only place the half orc even stands a chance is against 100 fort. Anything with less and it's no contest.

If I remember correctly, No one ever said, or at least I never said Helf is the most powerful because it does more DPS than a Horc, even though it does, unless as stated above you're in a 100% Fort situation...

You don't have to do the absolute most DPS for it to be powerful, even when talking about Melees...

And to be honest.. I wouldn't say it's the easiest either...

About half-elf vs. half-orc, horc primarily has an advantage if you splash fighter into your monk build (which yields more damage than pure monk, but at the cost of saves and the very awesome DR you get), since you can increase your number of fighter boosts through horc enhancements. On a pure monk its not that easy to say who has the most benefits, it depends greatly on what you run and what difficulty you run it on.

If you run primarily elite/epic, then the helf damage boosts will run out quite quickly and you're left with the sneak attack to make up for the extra damage horc has, which can be wonky on the high fort bosses we have in game now. On long fights I think they're pretty even.

Both have other benefits, horc you get +2 DC to stunning blow if you use that (which only really applies if you go Str-based), on helf you get extra heal amp which is especially nice for soloing.

Look be sensible about this. never mind horc/helf stuff. Just go Dwarf and stun every ruddy thing to the Forgotten Realms and back.Worth it just for the stunned animations. Go on you know you want to.
