I'd say the best way to get a second Wizard Past life would be to TR a first life Wizard, then aquire 3.139 Million Additional XP with 11 or more class levels in Wizard, then TR again.
Or am I confused on the issue?

I think the OP was under the impression that leveling a wizard wasn't one of the biggest easy-buttons in the game. They might have thought the best way to get a wizard past life would be to level an 12/8 BRD/WIZ, and then use a +3 Heart to convert into a 11/9 WIZ/BRD to TR. =)
I use the pathing provided in the Interactive Game Guide walkthrough. I've also zerged it in full groups in about 7 minutes, using that pathing, so I'm not sure it can be much improved. Do it on solo once or twice with a printout of that pathing next to you, and you'll be set to zerg-win it.
I ALWAYS dualbox melee on my caster lives!
OP-haven't personally tried barb splash, but hear it is hard to go back once you get that run speed boost and sprint boost. I'm trying it out on my sorc life. Starting in 5min on so
Gonna be painful getting spells later (especially on sorc). But it will be faster I think, and speed is the name of the game.
Go warforged, take max/quicken/toughness early (someone had quicken at 20 and heighten at 15...um what?) You want your reconstruct to go off EVERY time. And the casting speed is very noticable on a wizard.
Extend is still an OK feat, especially for palemasters. Will save some time and sp not castiing haste as often. Or displace if you dont have a torc (which I wouldnt TR without, to be honest)
Best of luck, and enjoy it, wizards are fun AND dead easy to level-a good combination
