Exclamation For the non-strategically savvy: Treasure Finding PSA

As a chest blesser there is nothing that saddens me more than someone that has taken the time to acquire the Greater Dragonmark of Finding but has neglected to find out how it works. No wonder a majority of the players think these feats are a waste when they encounter someone that is ignorant of how their own ability works!

Marks of Finding is a great start, and there is much more throughout the forums, but just quickly the ability does NOT stack three (3) times with itself – nor with blesses from other characters either. The ability works ONCE per chest and the bless ability does NOT affect raid/named loot. With this tiny but important bit of information perhaps you will stop being part of the problem. Good luck.

Remember, I bless chests & I buff you!

    Cheers,

    J-

Yes, but try to loot them, and the Stormreach Guard will likely put you in chains for harassment.

I like the chest buffing thing, it's a dragonmark that definitely deserves some credibility, unfortunately, the above statement removes any possible usefulness. I mean, I know there are broke players out there who can use a +2 thundering handaxe of vertigo instead of a +1 version of the same, but I'm really after my end game gear, I definitely don't need slightly better vendor trash for three feats.

I think if they removed the fact that it has no effect on the most sought after bits of gear, it would be an awesome dragonmark!

depends on your build. if you're making a piking bard, who cares if it costs 3 feats anyways? what else are you going to spend them on?

I need those feats for Skill Focus: Piking (3+ min afk), Piking Specialization (sending tells) and Greater Piking spec (planning my GS).

I think a lot of people would appreciate chest buffers more if it were possible to use their ability without it becoming a major production. Every time I'm in a quest or raid with a chest bard, inevitably one or both of these two things happens:

    1. The buffer and/or leader constantly spam party chat with instructions and warnings about leaving the chests alone so they can be buffed. Sometimes dozens of times.
    2. Some players ignore these instructions and open the chests prematurely. Then a big argument breaks out.

I don't blame the buffers for this, the problem is the fact that it takes so long to do and anyone can ruin it by opening the chest too soon. But the end result is still that I often prefer a group without a chest buffer to a group that has one.

    Default Question

It was stated by a Dev (I forget which one or how long ago) that the loot is generated when a person clicks on a chest. It dosn't matter wether the chest appears open or not, each charatcer is treated as opening the chest once they click on it.

So my question - Is this ignored for the Dragonmark chest buffs? ie the chest must not of been opened by anyone before buffing.

Or does it still work...ie one person opens the chest (gets yelled at) someone else uses his/her dragon mark on the chest and the loot is then buffed for all those who still have to click on the chest?
