Default Elite - new quests hard than old ones

I'm sure this is about as obvious as pointing out that the sun rises in the east, but anyone else elite-streaking notice how say the Lordsmarch quest on elite are much harder than say GH elite though the GH ones are a higher level?

This is not a complaint, just an observation.

In the Flesh on elite is a 17? That end-fight is harder than many epics.

I think the difficulty of the new quests for the most part works for geared TRs, you got back to old quests and scratch you head at them. We're streaking in order and I'm sure the Harbingers of Madness will be harder than the Vale.

They made siegebreaker harder for sure.

The kobold sappers bomb thingy never worked in old versions.. Now it works, and works exactly like a maximized + empowere DBF.. Exactly like what arraetrikos casts. Pretty mean for such a lvl of quest, especialy since it has a ton of those kobolds. They 1 shot my well prepared sorc.

But not really all. I mean crucible rivels the best of em. player skill required wise it ranks very highly still, took a multi tr high dex monk and he got destroyed by water swim, can really stat thru it at all, gota have WASD skills.

I like it. In the Flesh and Acute Delirium were some of the best fun I had while TRing.

I wish they didn't dumb down reaver's refuge and amrath. Why did they remove the wards? It's not like the newbies and casual players are doing stealer of souls and bastion of power on elite.

The In the Flesh end fight is on par with the undead waves on Ghosts of Perdition, the dragons on Gianthold Tor or the Doomsphere optional on Litany of The Dead. It's just that people don't run that content often.

And of course The New Weapon's Shipment elite ( even hard or normal ). Any epic Carniaval quests 10 times easier than this ( Maybe Last walk of A Small Problem is equal ).

Old dungeons have weak mobs (trash and bosses) on Elite and potent traps.

Newer designs have scaled up the mobs to be as tough on Elite as the traps are. Boss fights are nastier still.

Crucible is a quest where traps are the biggest threat, so it's tough on Elite despite being an old quest (The Pit is similar, likewise VON5). But mob-based old quests (say Prison of the Planes or Ritual Sacrifice) are really easy on Elite.

I for one love the new design.

It can be a big shock hitting these new quests if you've only been doing the old quests. But the are a ton more fun, despite or because of the brutality. And the loot is generally better in the new quests.

My buddies and I, while we clearly are a rung or two down the ladder in terms of skills and resources, are still amused when we obliterate the quests that used to give us fits, but this time on elite. The Redwillow's giant fight is a good place to slaughter yourself when you are new - then the strategy is "run for rocks to be near the shrine" and now on the elite streak it's "toe to toe but smart smashy smash muhahahaha"
Ghallanda - now with fewer alts and more ghostbane

The biggest issue is that the XP doesn't scale appropriately with the difficulty.

For the purposes of xp and treasure, yes.

However, as far as actual quest difficulty (in colloquial usage of the word) is concerned, the rule of thumb I always heard is "Add 1 for hard, add 5 for elite" -- a level 12 quest on elite is about as tough as a level 17 on normal.

Most of the epic quests are easier than most of the Amrath elites, and new Elite Weapons shipment is AWESOME!

XP in DDO hardly ever matches difficulty. Why do you think some quests get run 10x and others never do?

This starts right from the get-go. Information is Key is insane xp for what you have to do. Kill 7 dogs and 4 men? Maybe a couple oozes if you feel like it?

I think they’re attempting to design the new quests to prevent soloing. The sad part is that the XP is so bad in most of these quests that people will simply skip them to maintain a streak.
Things worthy of Standing Stone going EXTREME PREJUDICE™ on.:
    • Epic and Legendary Mysterious ring upgrades, please.
    • Change the stack size of filigree in the shared bank to 50. The 5 stack makes the shared bank worthless for storing filigree in a human usable manner.
    • Fixing why I don't connect to the chat server for 5 minutes when I log into a game world.
    • Fixing the wonky Lightning Sphere and Tactical Det firing by converting them to use alchemist spell arcing.
    • Redoing the drop rates of tomes in generic and raid loot tables.
