Default What's changing in Update 13?

How long until Update 13 is on Lamannia, and what will be looking forward to? (Or in some cases, preparing our "THE END IS NIGH!" placards for.)

Or at the very least, what are you Developers *hoping* to be able to implement for Update 13?

Are you working on how to balance the game for the introduction of a new Class or Race, or maybe testing the waters for the introduction of a new Prestige enhancement line, or deciding what Tier III abilities would be suitable for the current Prestiges that only have up to Tier II so far?

A revision of specific combat or other game mechanic?

I'm sure many of us would be greatly interested in a "best case/worst case" scenario about what is hoped for, and what is realistically expected, to happen in Update 13.

We will not be seeing U13 till February the earliest or after PAX East (April) the latest.
Till that time the devs will probably be looking into SWTOR to borrow some ideas if they haven't done so during the betas.

Foolish, but I'm still holding-out hope for a stealth U13 drop before the end of the year, with Druids and all PRE's

    Suck that SWTOR!

    good gods why?
I tried SW last weekend and short of cut scenes that were pretty there was nothing DDO can learn from it.

Quite the opposite , in fact, bioware could really use to poke an eye in on DDOs combat system and character customization freedom.
It was so "blah" plane jane boring cookie cutter WoW clone (and I say that not even liking WoW)

Had bioware not gone WoW clone DDO might have had some trouble, and even maybe WoW but they were silly and apparently decided to make it an "also ran" footnote and wasted a great license.

I thought we had speculated the answers in a previous thread. Anyway, here's what I recall:

More ingredients. Some will even fit into ingredient bags. They'll probably be bound to character, and can be used to get equipment that is in every way worse than greensteel, but be much more boring and grindy to get. Most of the new equipment will be bugged, and show signs of not having been tested at all (or even put on to notice it causes damage or instant death to the user). There will be no items of any value to divines.

A new adventure pack with some fun quests that are good to run once or twice, but have very low xp reward so tr's won't bother. This will cost somewhere between 600 and 3000 TP. The new pack will be low level as well, at a level range where there is plenty of xp to be found.

Hand wraps will be fixed, at least 2 of the many bugs affliciting handwraps, while new and exciting bugs willl be added to handwraps. If there are new named handwraps, they won't work right.

The price of the challenge pack will go up to 2000tp to make up for how few people buy it.

One new level of some prestige will be added somewhere, probably to FVS or Monks. It will be bugged.

Rangers, Bards, Paladins won't get any improvements. A rogue ability to sneak attack will still be useless on bosses.

Lots of minor things will be changed, some of them good. More icons and text will be messed up so no one is sure what it does.

Old adventure packs that no one buys or runs will not be improved. Old adventure packs that everyone loves will be messed with to cause griefing to the majority of the player base.

Never said they will be good borrow ideas.
And I since I haven't been following (outside of the e3 CGI trailer and how the raid loot? system works) or haven't played in beta I can't and will not give my opinion on good or bad ToR is.

SWTOR is 75% WOW clone with up to date graphics, set in the SW universe. Once, just once, Id like to see someone pull something new out of their hat as far as MMOs go. DDO is the closest so far, but while being able to develope a niche market, its not where the money is compared to WOW clones.

You forgot to add: Defenses will be further marginalized while turbine continues to misinterpret the meaning of tank, from 'something that is capable of resisting taking a lot of damage' to 'that thing we keep filling with a blue bar while we hunt for where the leak is'. Meanwhile, folks will call that a buff while wondering where all the hjeelers went.

heres the infos i got so far:

-Paladins smites will get nerfed to not have offhand procs. This change wont be in the release notes either so its more fun* that way.
-THF will get nerfed again. Maybe remove glancing blows entirely.
-Rangers will get some stealth nerf to there bow speed. Tempest rangers will be WI flagged to get agro on everything all the time.
-The new weapon rebalance will happen. But be bugged, so every weapon end up doing 1d3 damage. There will be a hotfix, but it wont address this non-critical issue.

    *fun not guarenteed.

    NEW for casters:
    fvs:
    - Greater Divine Punishment:
lvl6: 2d6 per CL light damage. no save, double range, 4 sp.
    wiz/sor:
    - Greater 'win the raids with ddo store potions' DoT:
lvl6: 8d6 +1 per CL untyped. no save. unlimited range. 33 sp

    NEW TO THE DDOSTORE:
    Ultimate spell point potions:
-Give about +20% more sp, for +25% the cost. Advertised in such a convuluted way as to trick most players into thinking they're getting a better deal.
    -

    NEW PrEs:
    Angel of Vengence III:
New Tier 2 archon summon: This pet has the following abilities:
    - Regenerate - Fills your SP over time
    - Solo the raids ability - automatically kills one raid boss quickly (the archon maintains agro and cannot die).
    - Casual players finally able to compete with the elites and solo raids as intended! rejoice!
    - Cost of favored soul on ddo store increased to 1950 tp.

    Divine Avenger I and II:
Balanced to let FvS put out more melee DPS then barbarians, but just slightly less the monks.

    Ninja Spy III:
Grants equal sneak attack dice as a rogue would have of equal level.
(also rogues sneak attack dice nerfed)

    New quests:

    Broccoli Raid!
    Lvl 2 raid:
Finally fight the broccoli! Charm beholders to help you fight!
-All players get a free, permanent divine intervention buff when entering the raid.
-Even if you fail, you still win!

lvl3 adventure pack: Probably broccoli enemies. 1000 turbine points.
Drops the broccoli handwraps, they are Greater everything bane with craftable +5 on them, and lightning strike, greater lightning strike.
Also a greataxe: with terrible stats no one would use.

    Bug fixes:
    -Some more monk bug fixes.
-Less potions can be drank while raged.
    -Some new handwraps.
-- Handwraps are bugged, but fixed in hotfix.

    And ofcourse. +100% more lag.

Good lord, I hope we don't have to wait until April like we did this year. That coupled with not granting Artificer access upon release for VIP was a major reason why I dropped VIP for good. Why pay for several months with no updates if there's not an extra perk like free new races/classes (or at least instant access to unlocking them) as VIP?

What ever Turbine has in store for us, better be big!

Too many other games, and too many long standing in-game issues, coupled with the release of challenges as "new content" to a niche market, will most certainly test the ability of Turbine to bring this game back to the at least the top ten of MMO's.

Right now, just in casual conversation with a lot of people in-game, the general feelings of people is that the release of newer games will be the deciding factor of them leaving DDO.

U13 better be real big, drop the challenge/ event nonsense and get the design team focused on what made this game stand alone in the mmo world. Hand-crafted quests, and the best combat system around.

IMO bringing proper balance to the game would be huge. I cant for the life of me (as an a long time PnP player) cant figure how a monk with OP can generate more threat than a tricked out SD III, just as an example.

There are a lot of issues we all post about, but this thread is the actual big deal for Turbine.

I for one have my fingers crossed, and hope we hear something soon from the devs on the future of the game.

But you left out that TWF will get nerfed again. And Tempest III rangers will lose their doublestrike chance. Oh, and they'll lose their shield bonus to AC since it's silly for a PRE to have a bonus that is duplicated by a wand.

Also, most of the other changes would really help out my divines and arcanes, so I hope they get implemented! I'm looking forward to Greater Divine Punishment and the WIN DDO DoT.

Shade lighten up, I know that they've been nerfing left and right, and then upping the casters but if you look at their past work ~GH, Necro, Delera's, hell even WW~ you will see that they can do it, its just hard, with all their players leaving ~i was on khyber and didn't feel it, but my main server orien i see it big time i mean normally i had 2-3 people on in friends list at least, now i log in at times and sigh at most of my friends leaving~ which means less money for them, WHICH with less money = dropping employees = less people working = less work done and to avoid it they are trying to throw us some **** stuff that is actually fairly good but in retroactive to their previous work sucks

I know that casters are way up, i know that melee are going lower and lower
My main characters are rogues and monks so i know that it sucks

but **** it if you ran a game and your fan base gave you more and more negative feed back like what you posted and started *****ing and moaning and complaining then would YOU want to work harder on it? probably not you'd probably say **** it lets go find a new job pardon my french

but your being cruel and i see your posts a lot, and i hear that your posts are heavily regarded by devs and others, you should try to remain positive
i LOVE this game, and i really hope Turbine doesn't trash DDO because of people like you
I am Falontani, Zeblazing, Zeholysoul, Zeshadowfist, Zesoulhuntah, Zedrunk, Singingblade, and many alts
