    Default Mithral Heirloom

    Taking inspiration from various "fantasy lore" sources, I'd like to start a discussion about creating new named, epicable Dwarve Waraxe (or perhaps one to be added to the challenges, in multiple level versions).

    Base Stats:
    [W] = d12
    critical profile: 20/x3
    base DR bypass: Mithral, Silver, Slashing

    Mithral is rare metal, and in various fantasy writings secret of forging it belonged to dwarfs.
    Dwarfs are known to be (in general) bound to their families/clans. They take pride in standing in line with their ancestors. Hence the name "heirloom" and dwarf-focused stats:

    Dwarven Weapon Mastery: when wielded by dwarf, this weapons base critical multiplier is increased by 1.

    Dwarven Waraxes (along with bastard swords) in DDO are unique weapons, in the fact that they can be proficiently wielded with THF and TWF characters. I'd like to see stacking weapon effect adding chance to bash with shield.
    Another thing Dwarfs are well known for, is their good balance.

    I'd add effect analogous to Chimera's Ferocity;
    for non-epic version:
    1 dragonmark of warding: balance +5, Shield Bashing +10%
    2 dragonmarks of warding: balance +10, Shield Bashing +20%
    3 dragonmarks of warding: balance +15, Shield Bashing +30%
    for epic version:
    1 dragonmark: +7, Balance +15, Shield Bashing +10%
    2 dragonmarks: +8, Enhanced Balance +5, Exceptional Shield Bashing +10%
    3 dragonmarks: Unhindered movement +20% (effects reducing movement speed such as cripling, illusionary chains, slow spell or defensive combat stances are 20 precent points less effective), Exceptional Shield Bashing +15%
    Greater Dragonmark of Warding: +10, Immunity to knockdown, Exceptional Shield Bashing +20%

    Another effect I'd like to see here, is "Alignment focus":
    When wielded by good character, becomes "of Righteousness". When by Lawful, becomes "of Lawfulness" (+2 to hit and to damage vs chaotic foes, bypasses DR/Lawful). When Chaotic, becomes "of Chaoticness". when by true neutral, "of Superior Stability". So, chaotic good character wielding it against Lawful Evil enemy would get +4 to hit/damage.

    You know the Dwarven Dragonmark sucks worse than a dollar store vacuum right?

    There are at least some redeeming factors to the Sentinel line since at low levels you can give yourself Protection AC, you can spam Protection from X on yourself and of course it opens up an Intim line of enhancements..

    The Dwarf one unlocks Search. If anything it lends itself more towards a Rogue type application than tanking.

    Look again. Count. Add Vengeful protector. With shield feat, Vengeful protector in off-hand, wielding this axe gets 85% chance to bash. Axe itself with IC: Slashing or keen added to it has better crit profile than eFang (in hands of dwarf). This one's epic version (2x[W]) gets better base damage. Immunity to knockdown is extremely potent, and unhindered movement is something perfect for tank types too. In short, I know Dwarven dragonmark isn't a feat anyone would seriously consider taking if bonuses for it weren't good. Having this weapon makes up for those 3 sub-par feats.

    You're glossing over the fact that the Sentinel Dragonmarks are inherently defensive and as such were put on a Tank Weapon.

    The Dwarven Dragonmarks are not Tankish.

    About Mark of Warding
    The Mark of Warding is used to protect people, places and things from all manner of damage or harm, with a focus on guarding locations and items from would-be thieves.
    DDO Feats? Not Tankish. D&D eberron setting flavor? hell yes. Come any closer, and I'll chop your head off, thief.

    It would be viable as the divine vengeance, and be a crappy weapon but get something better when used by:

    -Lawful characters
    -Good characters (IMO it makes no sense to give it something else alignment related, since dwarves tend to be lawful good)
    -Dwarves
    -Maybe something extra for DM users, but not as OP as you said. Since the dragonmark of dwarves has magic defensive characteristics, it could be something artificer related, or stacking energy resists or something like that.
    Kaldrick (Wiz PM 20), Aurala (FvS evoker 20), Kyrale (Bard Spellsinger 20) - Cannith

    Try again. They're trap protections not guardian protection.

    There's a reason that the Prestige Enhancement based on the Kundarak Dragonmark is a Rogue like class (Silver Key). Sentinel at least gets one that is offensive melee (Deneith Warden)
