Default As if taking up 12 Inventory Slots for Tokens wasn't bad enough!

I just learned tonight that we can only stack those things to 10 before they start taking up additional bag slots!

    That is shameless.

Turbine put a lot of time and effort into making these challenges. Dedicated nearly an entire update to them. So I'm guessing that you want people to play and enjoy that content?

    Not like this.

After buying the sixth inventory slot shortly after it was released for my UMD main I was enjoying having some free space for the first time in a long time. And now these challenges come along with their tokens and new requisition forms and crests and other junk that's taking up all the extra space. All BOUND TO CHARACTER, of course, so that we can't offload any of it into the shared bank or another character (as if that's what I really want to do anyway.)

I simply can NOT justify this stuff taking up so much space when it's so singularly focused. The Challenges are supposed to be an expansion and alternative play experience in the game. Not something that dominates our inventory like this.

It's going to end up being all or none for me. If Turbine doesn't see fit to address this inventory pig I think I'm just going to delete everything from those quests and be done with it. It'll be sad to be completely cutting out that content, but it will also be a HUGE inventory relief.

Is that really what you want people to do?

In the interest of making sure that Turbine can continue to monetize the inventory mini-game with each additional update/event I will once again suggest that each "Event" be given something like an "Event Trunk" where bound to character, event-specific, consumables and obsolete tiered gear (for TRs) can be stored. I'm talking about using, and expanding upon, the Cookie Jar model (yes, I have the largest cookie jar in my inventory, too!)

I'll take a Mabar Trunk, Crystal Cove Crate, Risia Rucksack, and a Cannith Challenge Coffer to go. Give me some place I can store and organize all this... "loot"... in one place and I'll be happy to throw some money at you.

I would really like to see a seperate bag for challenges where everything disappears in. Instead of taking up 12 spaces for the tokens and even more spaces for everything else you find for these challenges (or buy from the DDO store), only 1 space should cut down the annoyance of having the tokens clutter your inventory. The daily token vendor can easily hand out an extra bag for this if you don't happen to have one yet.

They could handle this even easier without any tokens or bags or inventory space.

We have a challenge window now just next to the adventure and explorer area windows.

Why dont they just show next to each challenge how many tokens we have? No inventory space needed no tokens needed

Hey, what on earth did you have to go and make sense for?!!?! Turbine, don't EVER do this, 'cos then we'll all start to expect more sensible goodness.

(Yes, I do think this is a great idea, especially if it's basically a single-character counter anyway).

To be honest I haven't felt like running any of the challenges recently, and I haven't even had the motivation to make an effort to get the tokens...

    I noticed this as well.

As soon as I started gathering the tokens and seeing how much inventory is taken, there is a simple step to accomplish regaining your space.

I'd have to agree, OP. between the Tokens and 50 thousand different types of ingredients, and the fact that I've seen maybe 5? pugs up for them since release...

    No thanks.

I can't find the motivation to play them either. I played them a couple times and really didn't like the timed nature they had. Maybe if I spent the time reading about the ins and outs there I'd enjoy them more but I'm more the dungeon crawl/kill things type. I'm not as in to the metagaming involved in the challenges.

At least right now, the tokens are near useless for VIP or anyone that owns the pack. Opening those supply boxes inside the quests is a joke. I don't think it was ever even worth the 5 seconds it took to open the box. Not even once. Have those nice little buffs maybe last 3+ minutes or get me something worth bothering for out of the boxes. I hear it is to be improved with the next patch, but I'll believe it when I see it. I'm not ready to break down all my tokens just yet as they may prove to be useful, but it's quite tempting. Using those tokens on the supply boxes is comparable to leaving a $0.12 tip at a restaurant. Sure, it's better than nothing, but at the same time, extremely disappointing and near insulting.

/signed, didn't read but heartily agree.

It's not that they'll make us buy a sixth inventory bag, those who get it surely can fill it with more important things.
Mine is full already from clickies, beaters and other stuff you can use but never had room, so none left for tokens.

    Stacking to 10? Really! Really!

    /koboldvoice

That makes it a big meh for me. Oh well. No point logging my toons to get the free tokens I guess. Just wait for the ingredients to be BTA, run the heck out of it for the weapons appealing to a couple of toons before my sub runs out and then ignore it.

Next to ddo store? Token bags?

    I also noticed another thing.

I just bought the Secret of Artificer pack. Every time a mob dies inside the explorer or quests, an ingredient will automatically drop for you and clutter your ingredient bags.

My friend is ignoring all of the collectibles/ingredients so that she doesn't need to sort out her ingredient bags. But now, you just can't ignore them, they automatically drop inside your bags. How cool is that right? Now you either destroy all of them one by one if you don't bother to use them or wait for it, buy more bags!

    Clever right?

I am not 100% sure if this is WAI.

I go almost every day to pick up my tokens even though I don't really run the challenges much. I only bother to do that on 1 character. That gives me 5 tokens.
I go to the bank to deposit them for whenever I feel the urge to use them.
When I go to combine the tokens with the same identical tokens I have sitting on my bank, It only adds 1 to the stack.
I guess In Tubines DDO world 5+5=6?
Has this happened to anyone else?
For the record, I think it is cr@p bags are not offered for these tokens.

I think they were expecting people to run these rather than hoard the tokens, honestly.

But yeah, they do take up far too much space.

    deja vu... or deja bug?
bit weird to have a stacking but since the old 100 stack black hole was vanquished long ago and even the lag hour is demoted to minutes.

    Default Sorry but

Turbine has no clue, really they just keep adding half baked concepts borrowed from other MMO's. Stacks to 10 is just laughable ...

I have said before and will say again Turbine is the coyote to real MMO's road runner, Warner Bros should now that ...

I'd like to switch out '50 thousand different [..] ingredients' with 'poorly balanced ingredient drops, xoriat-influenced quest scaling and organization, significant bugs and randomness compounded by a pay-to-play focus (using store consumables to make significant changes in quests) [which, actually, I'm fine with, but it's a bit silly to do for the only rated quests in the game], significant pack overpricing'.
Add those in to the other two points of tokens and low play-rate, and we've more or less hit the problem on the head.

    Default Challenge flagging

Perhaps since pepole don't want tokens clogging up their invintory, they could turn in the tokens at the respecive challenge givers to "flag" for the challeng up to say, 5 times. This would cut down on the invintory sspace used, and force pepole to choose to do Epic, or normal beforehand (possibly more money for you turbine.)

Not a problem for me! I just use the 8 color threat level chart:

    Red: Ragequit
    Orange: Post about ragequitting
    Yellow: Stop collecting tokens
Green: Spend Tokens frivolously <- I am here
    Blue: Use Tokens responsibly
    Indego: Stockpile tokens paranoidily
    Violet: Post about ragequitting
    Ultraviolet: Ragequit.

Change tokens to a counter on your character sheet(not literally on the sheet) like the /quest completions except its a list of how many challenge tokens you have. No reason to keep ideas in some dumb box that everything has to be a physical item.
