    Default Spellsinger Build Review

Hello, Request a quick review of this spellsinger I threw together. Goals would be for Raid/Epic Heals and CC. Halfing 32pt.

    Missing anything?

    Thanks for your time.

    Gonna start with the obvious:

    Why Halfling?

But I'm going to edit this as I actually bother to like, look past the race.

Drop Feat GSF:Enchant for Spell Penetration.
Drop Enhancement : Spell Penetration III (6 AP total) and Lyric of Incredible Song I (1 AP), put that 7 AP toward Lingering Song III and IV.

You lose 1 DC, Gain 1 Spell Pen, and double the durations of your songs (well, not double, but 40% extra duration versus 80% is a big difference). The Songs are most important.

Alternately, change from Halfling to Human, and use the extra feat for Spell Penetration. Either route, I would suggest making the recommended enhancement changes.

    Default Thanks

Thank you for the input and changes. Sound logic.

Thought Lyric of Incredible Song I was needed for spellsinger. Missread it.

Made the changes. Hows the feat order? Also, being human, I can take Human Chr and drop Bard Chr 3 which would give me another 4 aps. Suggestions? Anyway to drop another 3 and still be viable. Be nice to take the human con and racial toughness 3.

I would swap GSF and Heighten in their order.

Hold Person is level 2, Crushing Despair level 3, Dancing Ball and Hold Monster are level 4 Spells. You don't "unlock" 5th and 6th level spells until 13 and 16, respectively.

Your Crushing Despair DC will be higher at 7, and the same at 12, swapping feat order.
Your Dancing Ball/Hold Monster will be higher at 10, and the same at 12/13+, swapping feat order.
The only one that gets moderately hurt is Hold Person. And personally, I never used it.

Personal opinion - no. I'm sure you'll have enough gear to keep your HP "high" through most of your life.

But then again... it's enhancements. You could keep both in mind, and swap every three days, figuring out which one works better for you.

Halfling offers very little to a bard. My suggestion would be to go human.

Personally, I would drop maximize. It's a decent choice, but overrated. Your heals are generally just as efficient, if not more so without maximize (except for mass cure moderate which is better with maximize), so unless you plan to be a main healer in raids, it's unnecessary. Although to be fair, free maximize clickies are something to consider. Also, let's be honest: most of your heals should be coming from scrolls. To me, it would be an easy choice to exchange maximize for spell penetration so you can free up enhancements to max out scroll mastery.

    I would go human with:

    Extend
    Quicken
    Heighten
    Toughness
    SF: Enchant
    GSF: Enchant
    Spell Pen
GSP (or past life wiz or bard)

    Default Thank you

Thank you for your ideas, I will roll with the human and play with the enhancements.

Now, you mentioned spells, anyone have a tried and true spell list? LoL.

I try to keep cha and spell pen enhancements maxed on a CC based bard (depending on stats of course).

Something else for you to consider:

    Con: 18
    Cha: 18

    No toughness.

You lose approx 20-30hp depending on enhancements, but can a feat and some AP. You use eElyd for a bit of damage.

I would only do this once you are capped and geared. You want to be sitting around ~500hp.

I would never drop maximise from a CC Bard's build - you want to be able to fill two genuine roles in a party, healer or CC, and lots of quests don't use bard CC.

Most groups also don't take bards to be primary mass healers. Bard's excel at spot healing with scrolls, which has nothing to do with maximize. So most of the time, you aren't getting much use out of it, and I'd rather spend that feat to bump up my DC or spell pen.

I suppose it's just a matter of preference.

I wouldn't lose the feat for mass healing either. It's too useful for when it is needed. Bards excel at sustained healing but still need a bursts from time to time.

The only thing that stops a bard from going for mass healing is the attitude about whether the bard can do it or the player wants to build for healing. Neither is a reason to not be able to do it when needed.

Those extra hit points are expensive on the AP. Even if greater human CON pulls you up to an even CON score that means 20 more hit points for CON over 4 AP and 10 more hit points from racial toughness for 3 AP. You might need to drop STR just to hit that even CON score depending on tomes and gear available.

7 AP for 30 hit points is expensive, IMO, and not worth it over lingering song IV. The extra SP per song on lingering IV adds up. If I had the points to spare then maybe but I find spellsingers expensive on the AP side of bards.
