    a better idea
insted of booting why not making the said player unable to move like with some holding like sla only that it stay on him without waring off after some time.
while the said annoying player is stuck the recall button is disarmed so s/he cant recall or log out.
then a very nasty mob come and kick the **** out of the player and kill him.
player return to life and get killed again and again untill all equipment s/he wear is completaly broken with extra repair cost.
then said player is auto kicked out.
it will hurt very bad in their pocket and maybe then people will stop being so annoying.

Sharp sword, short temper, any questions?

It has been asked for many times, and every time, no is the answer, it was here before and is gone now for good reason.

The general chat is almost worthless to click on now as all you see are people crying about something that suddenly requires brainpower to use. Don't give em a legitimate excuse to *****. The forums might actually have a brain hemorrhage from sheer post count.

Remove "gather the party at X" requirements or put a 2 minute timer on them before they autocomplete with or without everyone there.
A friend will bail you out of jail.
A mate will be sitting in there beside you saying "**** that was awsome!!!"

Edit: to flesh out this idea more, I would have it be an item in the ddo store for 10-15 tp, that summons a single target to you. I would have it send a "if you don't click in xx time you will be teleported to xx player's location." I would have it require the target to be in the same instance as the caster.
*Devils advocate hat on* If I were a griefing piker, I'd grief that by clicking on No between forum trolling activities... or I might even buy them and use 'em on other party members when they afk for a bio - back in 2 mins, and make them run all the way through the quest again!

Sorry, it won't work. The only thing that works is recall/reform without 'em.

Edit: I can also see a few ways such a thing could be exploited, such as: 11 man shroud and a guildie turns up during the final fight. They enter, pretend to be a piker and get summoned to the end of part 5 - before or after completion (as long as the chests they want haven't been opened). There are many more possibilities.

Exploiting it might be a problem, but if they are truly griefing you, then it should be able to be solved by a gm. GM checks that item was used and person refused it to confirm greifing, gm forces gather objective to complete.

As far as breaking raid lockouts, they have shown they can make items selectively able to be used or not with the challenges, and before that with cakes. I don't think any raids that lock people out have such gather objectives, so simply making it unusable specifically in those raids (or all raids not sure about that though) shouldn't be to big a deal.

Sorry, but do you know of a Gm that problem solves, checks anything, or helps complete objectives?

Devils advocate I know, but expecting a Gm is going to do anything is like expecting a monkey to not toss pooh at me when I take my kids to the zoo.

Yes, I avoid the monkeys now as well.

I have had GMs force complete objectives whenever a bug prevented them from completing. While GMs in this game have less tools to work with than in many games, they can do somethings, and forcing an objective to complete is among the things they can do. I am fairly sure turbine could give them the tools to check on the item's use, and weather or not a player clicked an option... Especially if the markers to check are built into the items functionality.

I just made a reply in another thread that is valid here as well.

I do not feel the issue is what Turbine allows a GM to do so much as what the Gm is willing to do.

When GM's do exactly as you stated for 1 person opening a ticket, then tell the next person they cannot, there is a flaw in the system.

GM responses and helpfullness to tickets seem to fluxuate on a ticket by ticket basis, meaning they have no overlapping set in stone rules other than not allowed to restore items that disappear from inventories and banks.

I have had a GM respawn a miniboss before, and then I have also been told by other GM's they cannot respawn a miniboss. So really we have to assume that Turbine gives them the tools to do much more than what is being done, they just have to spend a few moments looking into it, and this is where the system seems to stall the most. Seems to I say, I have no hard data to back it up, just what I see on the forums to make an informed opinion.

Kicking players was in the game when it launched. It was bad, they removed it.

What they should is stop using silly mechanics like that. Turbine clearly doesn't pay attention to itself, they eliminated that feature from WW to prevent griefing...and then introduced it in MP in the same release. They need to rethink and eliminate "gather the party" and the problem is solved.

I tend to disagree as well due to the potential for abuse.

A scenario I can think of is a guild raid taking one or two pug players, and during the raid, or at the end chest threats are made to surrender the contents of this chest or that, or face being kicked by the posse mid-raid. Or worse, at the end. I can think of a half dozen more scenarios, none of them good, and none of them conducive to the concept of teamwork. Players can never be trusted to moderate themselves, the propensity for greed is simply too irresistible in your typical vanity-based MMO game.

It might be better to have some system in place that kicks the players out automatically, beyond the control or influence of any one participant.

I agree. Although I believe the problem is in training the employees. If you have seen the amount of training new hires get nowadays youd know it mostly involves a sharp stick and a deep end... But that is a rant for another time and place.

I am not so sure anymore. I have long held the opinion that the GM staff was just told to use their judgement. I just never voiced it, thus my frustration.

But, in a couple threads today, some people have raised some good points on what the deepest problems likely could be, and I am more leaning toward your opinion here as well.

Frankly, the lack of a clear and concise set of rules for us players to have at our disposal is a big problem when we open a ticket. We expect certain things, such as lost items being investigated and replaced, or like this thread, we have a useless piker in the group, please remove them. A clearly posted ruleset can and WILL do a huge amount to alleviating the 'gm sux' threads imo.

We do not get that though. Another factor to me, is the fact we have an 'in game customer service' FORUM that is NOT being used by the in game support staff. When a player makes a thread/post there instead of opening a ticket, my opinion is they are doing the in game staff a favor by not opening a ticket for an issue they really do not feel needs immediate attention...........The least the in game support staff can do is to pop into their OWN forum and respond to the players. This is another HUGE failing on the part of the DDO GM's (otherwise known as 'in game customer support).

There is certainly merit to this thread, and something should be done about the pikers/griefers, and using a bot to move your character a twitch every 20 seconds is something I see at times in the Necro tavern by some people not wanting to be auto logged, so I feel safe in assuming some pikers do it as well.

Maybe set a minimum DPS/heal/positive group buff threshold for looting end chests. Sounds like a ton of work to me though.

Really, at the end of the day, while VERY inconvenient to the 5 or less contributing players in the group, recall/reform is the best thing for everyone from Turbine developers to us players, I mean, it only takes less than 2 minutes to recall/reform, and yeah, while being a PITA, it lets the Devs worry about other things........

    FIX DEM BUGS NOW!!@!!@!!!@#!!!!

I agree. The mechanic is annoying and lazy.

Its part of the gaming experience. so you thought you had 6 players, now you have 5.
I would like a feature such as "/safety off" so i could kill those players myself but its not going to happen.
I had a piker not 1 hour ago so I grabbed agro and ran to the guy.
Suddenly this guy who hadnt moved in 20 minutes was fighting.
I died, he died, I felt good

"sorry.. there was a work call"
yeah, sure there was. a call important enough to leave us without saying 'phone afk' but not important enough to die for.

just have fun with them, /squelch them, and keep on gaming.
you wont see them at higher levels much.
My demands are simple. Ducks, penguins and tortoises as pets. I'll buy hats and bow-ties for them all.

GM's WILL move AFK players in an instance where a party is required to gather. This is just open to abuse and a possible griefing tool.

Well there are two pages here full of negative responses, so to look at the bright side - I got you all to agree on something.
I get the point, I'm sure everyone else does, no need to respond to this thread anymore.
And a special thank-you for those who put those sarcastic comments, I really appreciate it.

If GMs will do this then nothing else needs be done.
