    Arrow Battle of the Behemoths!

Wiz vs Sorc. Who's better? Let's hear some arguments - BUT - we're going to be using some truly epic builds as a base.

For the sorcs, we have Ayspam A completionist sorc.

Level 20 True Neutral Human Water Savant
(20 Sorcerer) Completionist Past lives: 3 of all caster, 1 of each other.
    HP: 475 unbuffed, 555 buffed
    SP: 3267
    Spell Penetration: 31
    Necromancy DC:10 base +9 spell +19 cha +2 feat+2 item +1 pastlife wiz = 43 (store, abishi = 46)
    Conjuration DC:10 base +9 spell +19 cha +3 item +1 pastlife wiz +3 pastlife cleric = 45 (store, abishi = 48)
    Enchantment DC:10 base+9 spell +19 cha +2 item +1 pastlife wiz = 41 (store, abishi = 44)
    Evocation DC:10 base+9 spell +19 cha +2 item +1 pastlife wiz +3 pastlife sorc = 44 (store, abishi = 47)

For the wizards, we have Lacer a pale master with 3 wiz/1 bard/1 sorc as past lives.

Level 20 True Neutral Human Female
    (20 Wizard)- Past Lives: 3Wizard 1Sorcerer 1Bard
    Hit Points: 472+45GS+40SFL+20Yugo+10GHfv+20Rage=607
    Spell Points: 1895+200AM+150GS=2245
    Spell Pen: 31
    Necromancy: 46+2Abishai+1Bard+1HouseD Potion=50
    Enchantment: 46+2Abishai+1Bard+1HouseD Potion=50
    Conjuration: 46+2Abishai+1Bard+1HouseD Potion=50
    Transmutation: 43+2Abishai+1Bard+1HouseD Potion=47

Epic builds only need to worry about epic content. So don't bother talking about anything that isn't considered end game. Both builds also represent the near pinnacle of each class - no need to point out that most of us common folk will never reach these levels.

    Opinions on solo vs group.

I'm a big believer in "Defense Wins Games, Offense Sells Tickets" I've never played an arcane in Epic content, but i think Lacer is the more durable build, so he gets my vote.

    Chime in people!!!

My personal opinion is that the Sorceror wins, due to the simple fact that they're more fun to play/level.

Supposedly sorc ought to be a bit different from wiz, though is not quite so in ddo.

Sorc is an specialized class, not too unlike a wiz taking school specialization in PnP or on DDO's archmage.
Gains some edge at the expense of other things, mostly more sp on fewer spells.

Wiz may be good to start since you can try out all the spells and you may not need the extra punch.
Sorc may be good because you need not try out all the spells and the extra punch makes up for it.

Sorc is good for nukes because of the speedy casting and the u9 spell pass, need not rely on high DC spells.
Wiz often relies on high DC spells, using them saves a lot of sp so they can afford not obliterating the place.

Now before u9 nukes weren't too good on epic but neither were instakill, only cc was good enough.
The spell pass changed a bunch of that aimed to make nukes and instakill usable in endgame/epic again.

So either you go for high DC or high sp, which is better is perhaps best left to player liking.

The tiebreaker for me is the PM's quickened self-healing... it is going to have a far easier time saving wipes and soloing difficult epics and raids.

I love my human sorc, but if I had to delete all my characters and only play either Ay's build or Lacer's, it would have to be Lacer's.

BTW- might as well compare completionist to completionist.
