    Default Cleaning up old Connection

So i was running through the Harbor when i came to a dead stop, and couldn't move or cast. I was able to look around, but I could tell the that the game seemed to have "frozen" so i waited a good 5 min and then decided to reset my client.

Now when i start the game up, I enter my name and password and get to what should be the loading screen, where you see the blue bar indicating that the game is loading, but instead of the blue bar, I see a new message in Green letters stating "Cleaning up old connection".

Any ideas as to what is causing this? and how do i get past it to play the game?

I ran into a similar issue. I noticed that I was not recieving data back. My ping was good and my send data seemed to be working properly. I had zero packet loss, but wasn't recieving and data back. The server appears to be up and operational, but not loading properly. Could be associated with a downed router somewhere between us and the server that cannot be routed around. Could be directly at the server. Without knowing the server's IP address, I can't trace out the route and test the connection links. I am on the Sarlona server. Same server for all of us?

Same here, mock it up to server over population and blame TheDearLeader, thats what we do in guild.

Same issue. Loading screen of death, waited 5 minutes and used Alt + F4. Tried logging back in, cleaning up old connection message. Sarlona server.

Default Same for 2 of us.

Both on Sarlona. Voicechat was still working but he was locked up and couldn't move or get back into the game even though it showed him still logged in. Prior to this, somebody got banished from ToD part 1... I logged out and back in and was taken to the Heart of the Wind on my capped favored soul.

If will fix shortly, I know us gamers never eat when the net works right so perfect opertunity to go grab some grub and use the restroom(clean out reserves) and get ready for fun.

Server over population? Who are we kidding here, i have been playing for over 2 years, and the servers are at an all time low population.

I just tested another server. This seems to be a Sarlona specific issue. I am gonna try all the servers and report back.

Don't read anything into it, but maybe it was sarcastic?

Issue duplicates on two different computers:

I can log into Wayfinder, or another non-Sarlona server. I can use my other account to log into Sarlona. I cannot use my main account to log into Sarlona (my "main" server) on my laptop, or desktop.

    Default Sarlona

Friends who are still in game said that Sarlona is being reset at 5pm EST, guess I should be happy that it only takes 30 min to reset the server.

They updated the login page to tell us it'll be reset at 5pm. Says it should take about 20 mins. So I am guessing we should be back in game by about 9pm? Sound right to you guys? lol...... I just tried and was able to log in with my son's account no problem. Guessing it's not the server but actually the login server associated with Sarlona. either way they need to man up and reset it asap hehe. Don't tell them I said that.

Yeah, im guessing as much, and there is a great time for sarcasm, however when people are looking for advice, perhaps now isn't the best time?

It just touched a nerve of mine, with the server population being so low, its getting depressing hitting the O panel and seeing NO groups LFM in your level range, or putting up a LFM of your own, and waiting an hour for it to fill.

I saw a commercial a few days ago of this guy who taught his hamsters to row a boat to produce electricty to run his computer... I wonder if he loanded them to Turbine to help run the servers?

    Such an easy word... row....
The problem is never how to get new, innovative thoughts into your mind, but how to get old ones out. Every mind is a building filled with archaic furniture. Clean out a corner of your mind and creativity will instantly fill it.

This is not new but not too common either. Kind of happens when the game crash while you are lagging.
e.g. sometimes you are stuck in 'getting datacenters' and sometimes you are stuck in 'cleaning old connection'.

Might be a thing with windows, sockets aren't always closed upon crashing.
It is also why it works again if you wait a few minutes, when the connections clear on their own.

And that's after ddoclient has closed, remember it takes from a few moments to forever if you let it close on its own, depending on your computer speed and disk swap ram.
