Several times after reading forums I leave and come back later and when I click on the "take me to where I left off" button it seems to take me to the beginning of a thread I have already read, and there often seems to be few or no new additions.

Is there something about this feature I don't understand? Or,

When I leave the forum via, say, the MYDDO button at the top, is the last read date not updating properly? What is the best way to "leave" the forums to be sure things update?
