Ablative Armor and Stoneskin

What or how do the game mechanics work if both spells are in effect...does the order they are applied matter?

May be a noob question but have yet to "see" which is actually working when both are there.

It seemed to me that ablative armor was used up before stoneskin so maybe it takes from it first.
But I also had stalwart trinket stoneskin popping off too so I could be wrong...
