    Default Cant enter the Subterrane

Ever since update 11 I have been completely unable to enter the subterrane. Every time that I attempt to do so I get stuck on the loading screen until I alt+F4 or use the task manager to close the game. When I relog I am always standing on top of the entrance to the Subterrane. All of my emails to turbine about this problem have been completely ignored and I would really like to be able to run HoX and VoD again.. any suggestions?

Have you tried repairing your installation from the Launcher?

    Two things come to mind:

    1) Try changing your graphics settings to Very Low. If that works, the cause of your crashes is a graphics effect called something like stencil hitching - it causes a lot of Sub-T crashes.

    2) It could be that the .DAT file that includes the Subterrane is corrupted or hopelessly fragmented - in that case, a reinstall is probably needed.

I have not tried to do a repair no and I really doubt its in need of a reinstall from fragmentation since its a new installation. After being inactive for about a year I came back to DDO and using the TDM (turbine download manager) I was unable to update the game and did a fresh installation. I will try to change the graphics settings and see if that makes any differance in the problem.

It could just have been corrupted though. If the graphics setting doesn't help, do try the repair approach.

So after dropping the graphics settings to the lowest everything can be (eye bleed mode) and disabling every option that I could with no change, I tried the repair option from the launcher (which just resets your graphics options to defaut detected settings) and now I cant even log into my characters at all. Now I get stuck at the character loading screen...

edit: I am now trying a fresh install to my primary drive because I was running DDo from a secondary drive and I cant do a repair from the installer... Guess I will see how this works out, after of course having to re download all of the updates and what not that are not included in the installer package...

the next time you try loading into the sub-T and you get stuck.

1 hit enter. (this is to enable chatting/typing something in your chat box)
    2 type in /logout
3 hit enter. Behind the sceens where you can't see, a "yes/no" box will pop up. Hit enter again a few times. If you actually do log out, it means the server was losing your place for whatever reason of where you character was supposed to go and you got stuck in a void limbo. (why, I don't know)

Hitting "esc" during log out will probably stop the log out from happening, but if lucky, you'll also be taken back to a game window, probably with a black screen, but usable chat boxes.

Like the others, I am suspect that you have corrupted files which your current updated reinstall, not update patchwork, should fix.

Is there any reason why I should not use the downloaded installer package that was on my secondary drive from the previous install? I didnt feel like having to download the whole game again on my 768k dsl...

So the reinstall worked. I was able to enter the subterrane fairly quickly on my first attempt. Thanks for the help.
