Using anything other than Mass Heal is burning SP fast. Sometimes you need to do it, but don't pretend it's efficiency.
Agreed. As a clonk I generally stood in with the melee and DP+shieldblocked to get SOME sp back and do some damage. 650hp+evasion 40 reflex+fireshield scrolls=I center the masses on myself. I call for when to exit if I have a low dps group or if it is h/e. I spot heal as needed while exiting-trying to do so together but often difficult in pugs. Most of the sp spent is not during the time when harry is there-heal mass is the only spell used and it's cheap cheap. More is spent when spot healing during exit or gnoll time.

You should not need any mass cures except in very exceptional circumstances. If the 300hp zero fort rogue is always the one you are casting early for, they have no buisness being in the raid. I would absolutely let them die if they clearly were going to drain my sp for the remainder of the battle.

Mass heal is incredible. It barely costs more than the single target version, costs far LESS than max/emp mass cures, and heals for way higher than either.

It's just natural selection, as bad as that sounds. Melee that can't survive the cooldown in shroud of your mass heal don't deserve to. That sounds brutal but in raids, HP matter more than anywhere else for this reason.

If the party is taking enough damage to warrent even THINKING about using mass cures, something has probably gone very wrong, or it's a very special circumstance (EADQ2 being the big one, or perhaps if a shadow in tod2 gets loose).

Most 6 man epics you can get by with ONLY mass heal, and heal if one person gets low and is not with the group (perhaps tanking a boss).

As for the casting time-with quicken it is not that long. You can anticipate damage most of the time, and cast ~2 seconds early. Quicken should always be on mass heal-if you fail a concentration check (and you WILL in shroud 4 when a blade hits you) and lose the spell it's often a very long wait for that cooldown-and in that case you WILL need to spam mass cures to keep the melee up. Quicken also helps with the timing aspect.
