    Default Help With a Build

    Well like the title says im looking for some help with this idea/build. I want a battle cleric(ish) build but not just a splash. I am looking for any and all CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. I'm not great with character building and i expect to have made lots of mistakes and i am hoping you can find them and help me improve this. I understand this is a flavor build and will never be an optimal build, but id like to make it as good as possible without straying to far from the original idea! so, thanks!

    Couple questions:
    Drow is a suboptimal choice. What races do you have available?
    Do you have 32 pt builds, or just 28?
    Do you have monk available?
    Do you have any tomes in the bank?

    The thing is, this is a difficult concept to build with 28 points, and Drow doesn't make it much easier.
    One things good is that you can dump wisdom. You won't be casting offensively anyway, so wisdom becomes all but useless to you. That will free up a few points right there.
    And Jump is wasted skill points. You get 10 from the spell (ranger), 10 from a potion (if needed), a few points from Str (variable) and 30 later from a clicky. Jump is maxed without any real effort, so we can use those points elsewhere.
    Let me see what I can come up with for you.

    Requires one +1 Dex tome to qualify for GTWF, but it isn't needed until just prior to taking level 15, so that shouldn't be an issue to find.

    And I just noticed the halfling comment. Human works best here because of the extra feat. As a melee divine, you'll want Divine Power and Divine Favor Extended. Toughness is a must. GTWF is a must on a melee focused build here. IC and PA are both must haves. Empower Healing Spell is a PrE prereq. Maximize is needed for quality Blade Barriers. Quicken is needed for healing raids, and especially for emergency Heals while in melee.
    That's eight feats, so Human is the race of choice for the extra feat. The extra skill point from HUman allows for full UMD as well. So this is definitely a human.

    Decent balance, and a little stealth because I can't bear to build anyone with hide/ms as class skills and ignore them. You may not use it often, but when you do it will save the day. A few points in spot so that maybe you will see those hidden mobs instead of bumping into them if you have to sneak around.

    12 Wisdom +4 from Owl's Wisdom ensures that even if your gear gets Disjuncted you'll still be able to cast your highest level spells.
    (12 is enough to cast Owl's, and the +4 it provides allows for Heal/BB)
    Cha I & II instead of a Faith line because the extra Turn Undead means and extra Aura or Burst, which is more useful.

    You'll never be a great healer, but you can single target heal well enough, or sub in as a healer in a pinch.... you just can't do it for a long time because you don't have the mana to equal staying power as a healer.
    And you'll likely be declined from groups by a lot of players unwilling to give your build a chance, so be prepared for that possibility.

    And for the record: Monk instead of Rogue on a 32 pt build, and this would shine given the opportunity and a quality player at the helm.

    I know monk would be the optimal 2 levels, but i thought that fighter would be better than rogue for the 2 extra feats. Is there any way to make this build work without Human? If its the only possible race than its fine but id really prefer something other than Human for flavor XD. Also the SP seems kind of low, will that be enough to self heal and possibly back up heal groups through most at-level quests?

    Fighter vs Rogue is a personal preference. The Dex for TWF with 6 Ranger makes for a decent Ref. Since there are two levels left, evasion seems like the natural filler to me. Plus it allows for full UMD, which cannot be underestimated.

    If you didn't want to go Human, then the Fighter splash may be the way to go, because dropping from 8 to 7 feats would really hurt the build.

    SP is going to be low no matter what you do. You only have 12 levels of Cleric. You're not going to have a huge SP pool, and there's very little you can do to change that.

    Alright, thanks. Another questions (sorry) would the build be the same if i went fighter vs rogue, just different classes?

    The concept would be the same, but the order would be different. Ranger first for the extra skill points at level one, with a level of fighter somewhere in the middle. I'd probably only take a single level of fighter, allowing for 13 Cleric and a few 7th level spells.

    Pros: tomes are back-loaded (good for someone w/minimal resources to start), higher CHA adds extra TUs & Divine Might I/II for more DPS, UMD, Evasion

    Cons: low-CON race + low-HP classes = squishy; cleric abilities are backloaded; dump-stating WIS makes you dependent on WIS item, tome, and/or WIS enhs to be able to cast spells; PUGs usually don't like cleric-based builds who aren't "real" healers (i.e., expect some player hate for being such a "gimp" build)

    Feats: the must-haves IMHO are Toughness, Power Atk, GTWF, and Empower Heal (RS pre-req). That leaves 3 to choose. My two cents on the options:

    • Improved Crit Pierce - the only other melee DPS feat for this build, highly recommended. Can be skipped if you stick with keen/Min2 rapiers, but that limits your weapon choices too much, IMHO. [If you have Harbinger, Turbulent Epees are a decent alternative to MoPG weapons and fairly easy to farm.]
    • Maximize - boosts your RS bursts, Cures, and offensive spells, though the SP cost for the latter two might be prohibitive. Worth it just to boost your bursts, IMHO; anything else is gravy.
    • Quicken - considered a must-have for any serious healer. Although if you don't use your spells much in combat, can be dropped.
    • Empower - like Maximize, worth considering just for the boost to your bursts.
    • Extend - mostly useful for short-term buffs (Divine Favor, Divine Power, Recitation, etc.); worth it if you mostly use your SPs for buffs rather than healing or offensive spells, otherwise I'd go with a different meta.

    If you had monk, I'd suggest monk 2 / pally 6 / cleric 12 as an alternative; you lose UMD and rgr feats & lvl 1 spells; but gain higher saves (Divine Grace) & HPs (pally Toughness II), fear & disease immunity, Exalted Smite I, Divine Sacrifice I, 1st-tier pally PrE (sadly can't do HotD I / RS II combo).

    STR 16 on a 28-pt halfling costs too many stat pts for this build, IMHO, esp. if you start with such low base DEX. You end up having to "waste" lvl-up pts on DEX which makes no sense. Consider something like 14 / 16 / 14 / 8 / 14 / 8 instead (maybe less WIS more INT).

    Other issues I see: you back-loaded your rgr lvls so you don't get ITWF & GTWF until lvl 18, which is gonna hurt your DPS while leveling. OTWF is a weak feat; an extra meta like Max or Emp would be better IMHO. I don't think any of the lvl 7 spells are must-haves; consider ftr 2 / cleric 12 instead for +1 STR enh, +1 feat, and a couple more HPs. Half-ranks in skills do nothing, so make sure you even those out.

    Not a fan of splitting lvl-up pts like that; I'd rather use +1 tomes for DEX & CON and put all pts into STR. I also suggest starting with rgr instead of cleric; that gets you 16 extra skill pts to spread around. WF Slash is basically worthless to this build; rearrange things so you can squeeze in another meta like Max or Emp (worth it just to boost your bursts, IMHO).
