Played a Thri-Kreen monk w/level Adjustment was very fun in pnp had a great time with him....while other players were collecting gold he was collecting kobold flesh in hes bags for a meal for later....awesome.
also a very fun race to play...would be fun with racial bonuses versus mind flayers

Although I like Gnome, Kobold, and Kalashtar as well. I feel Kalashtar would be more complicated to implement. Kobolds would have confusing dialogue and/or have to have new implemented dialogue wiht the other kobolds (i.e. challenges). Gnome... well I don't have a reason for no gnome
Anyway, Catfolk, different, doesn't conflict with the any other monster races (well... rakshasa are different...) Also easy to implement and would make good rangers

1. Aasimar
2. Tiefling
3. Kalashar
4. Catfolk
5. Changeling
In order of preference.
However, the 1st and foremost should be: Work more (much more) on Elves, Drow, Halfing and Dwarves to make them more interesting and more different from human.
Its the same with brand new classes, how good are Druids and Artificers when Rangers and Pals sucks, and all other classes has 1/2 of PrE at best?

I would have to go with gnomes. I do think that there needs to be more spells for them to use though.
I don't know a lot of the other races that you are talking about. I am old school PNP. However I still liked to create my own PC races before 2.5 even came out. I liked the idea of half ogre or even full ogres.
1) Gnomes
2) Kobolds
Sarlona - [<o>] Brazilian Dragons [<o>]
Arrth [Favored Soul/25] Golandar [Completionist - TR5] Larapius [Rogue/25] Llance [Fighter/5] Meredoth [Bard/25] Mhammoth [Ranger/25] Mhorganna [Sorcerer/25] Mhorgause [Druid/25] Mordredh [Wizard/25] Spirrus [Light Monk/25]
Golia
Races I would like to see (first one listed gets my immediate vote, but would like all of them added)
Kalashtar (because then we may see a Psionicist soon!)
Shifter (complete the eberron races)
Goliath (because well... I just love them!)
Illumians (strange race that could be really fun coming up with enhancement lines for them)
I would also think it may be a good idea to start adding sub-races... like a halfling that gets +2 Cha/-2 Str, or a short WF (like was mentioned earlier), etc... D&D is FILLED with sub-races... why not make use of them? We already have character models, they would probably work just fine, just set up different stats/enhancements for them
Aasimar
Tiefling
Gnome (it's a bloody core race after all, no matter how little I like them)
Githzerai
And just for fun, Modrons!
I'll admit, Aasimar would cause a spam of clerics, fvs, and paladins.
I vote for gnomes, they are a core race after all.
