Default Help with set of essential weapons

    Hi!

Now I'm playing DDO more often and my first toon was a Wizard (lvl 9). My second toon is a Monk (lvl 10).

Well, with the wizard I never had to go into melee combat, so never used any kind of 'weapon'. And the monk, I am using one great pair of handwraps (Stonedust) after I have long used the The Devotion and The Eternal Rest.

Now I want to build a Fighter (improved trip based) and my question is:
    - what would be a set of essential weapons (sufix and prefix) to have?

I'm not talking about the named weapons, but the ones that we can easily find questing or buying at AH.

Greater Undead Bane? Ghost Touch? Greater Elemental Bane? What else? Holy? Holy Burst? Acid Burst? Metalline?

What are the types of weapons that no fighter should leave home without?

    ty =)

I think a good general (non greensteel) weapon to have is a holy/holy burst of pure good. The majoroty of things you fight are going to be evil, so this works out pretty well.

    Myself I carry with me:

    greater elemental bane weapon
    anarchic everbright weapon (rust monsters/ooze)
    green steel lit 2
    holy burst of pure good
holy of pure good warhammer (skellies....undead bane is good here too instead of pure good)
a holy of pure good return throwing axe
    paralyzer of pure good
a shield (for those rare situations....)

I also have in the bank for situations where I need them and raid bosses:

    disruption weapons (undead)
smiting and greater construct bane weapons (constructs/shroud portals)
holy silver of Evil outsider bane (devil dr)
holy cold iron of eob (marilith dr)
    metalline of pure good (reaver)

At low levels, If you can craft it, make yourself a nice holy weapon, that's about the best thing to use early. And as you can add things to your arsenal do it.

Also remember if you are two weapon fighting (as I am) that you will need multiple weapons of certain types and it's much more inventory intensive than two handed fighting.

edit: OH, and a ghost touch weapon is very good to have too until you get something that will let you hit ethereal creatures without it.

somenewnoob provides some excellent options at cap, but it looks like you haven't gotten past level 10 yet, so it may not be applicable to you.

If you can get Carnifex from Delera's chain, it's an awesome weapon for the first 10 levels. It's a "double keen" with a 17-20/x3 range during a level range where most builds don't have Improved Crit yet. If you can't get that, the Nicked Greatsword is a nice pickup from the Sharm pack. Otherwise pick up any Holy weapon as a general use weapon.

Besides that, you will want something against undead. With very minimal crafting, you should be able to make a Ghost Touch of Lesser Undead Bane Weapon (no plus). Try to make one with a weapon with a Flametouched Iron base. This weapon is really fantastic in undead content, particularly the Shadow series (necro 2).

You will need an ooze beater. You can start with muckbanes, but I like to build an Everbright Maul, because glancing blows are just useful. You can even consider using an Everbright Greatsword/Axe. Even though the oozes split, often the split oozes are easier to kill and are quickly taken care of with glancing blows.

Also, if it wasn't obvious from my previous post. Use a Two-handed weapon for the first 12 levels, regardless of whether you ultimately plan to go TWF or not. The off-hand attacks don't proc enough until you get to 80%, in my opinion, and you might have trouble hitting at lower levels.
