Default Game will not load after todays update

The message I get is "Failed to load resources from resource file. Please check your setup."

Everything worked fine until I tried to load in after the game update an hour ago.

Edit: It seems to be frozen after loading 9/798 of the files in the update. The window is "Not responding" at this point.

Unhappy Failed update and Launcher Error

The launcher no longer works after Update 12 - noticed that players on Lamannia have had similar problem.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks

I had a few problems with the launcher as well (a few stuck at examines, 2 errors [something about failing a hash check and one other]). Restarting the launcher a few times eventually got me through it though. /shrug

    Angry Can't reinstall either

Had to uninstall and reinstall it this morning but go figure... can't.

I get the "There is no connectivity" ****... tried all the stuff it told me to try in the other post about this but then started working. Then with 1 minute left (after an hour and a half) it tells me the application has failed. UGH

Please someone help me get this game started working again properly!

    Cool Think I've cracked it!

I read somewhere that if you select repair from the original setup file (i kept mine - phew) - it worked its magic. It updated the launcher and now it is dwnloading the updates normally. Will let you know when it's finished as atm it 6% 18../9687 - could be a while

    EDIT:

The setup files are the original files you used to install DDO. 1 setup and about 5/6 cabinet files - after double-clicking setup.exe I chose repair. It did its thing then updated the launcher - now updating fine - if a little slow - by the way the setup files wont be stored in your program files for DDO. You will have put them somewhere, downloads folder? - hope this helps?

I'm not seeing a setup file, maybe because it isn't there (god I hope not)

Unhappy I didn't have setup files anymore

That's why I have to reinstall. Went to fileplanet option they had cuz none of ddo's were working. at 91% right now and not entirely sure if I'm downloading the files or the game itself

Nope after about 75% of the file getting uzipped I keep getting an error also.... this is why I don't pay for this game anymore because it never works

    Default Ah here's the fix

Windows users with desktop shortcuts pointed to "dndclient.exe" may experience a launcher error. Ensure that your shortcuts are pointed to "turbinelauncher.exe" instead.

If it says the missing file is c:/program files(86)\turbine\D&D online Ebberon unlimited\ControlLibrary.dll. I had the same issue. It actually copied that file into a subfolder called Patches. If you locate the ControlLirbary.dll there, just copy and paste it into the correct folder. This worked for me.

I don't know if that's the fix, but my shortcut was definitely to the client, so I hope that solves it for people.

Original poster here with an update:

No luck with anything. Tried several times to run the program with no luck and the same error as stated in post #1.

Found a knowledgebase article about uninstalling .net and reinstalling the .net 1.1 with sp1 package which I did. Now, the error I get is " An error occured while updating the game...blah blah blah...error 40000.

    Details:

40000 is the launcher reporting it cannot find, or was prevented from accessing the update servers. They are currently up so I would go through the steps here but also follow that up with tech support request if you haven't already.

Thanks a million for that. I would never, ever have found that on my own.

i got the 40000 message as well.
linking to turbinelauncher instead of dndclient and disabling the proxy in the client setup fixed it for me.

    thanks mirthgar.

This fixed my issue as well. Possibly the most useful post (to me) on the forums EVER. +rep mate. Thanks for taking the time to post this solution.

    Default http 404 not found

going to "turbinelauncher.exe" got me past that roadblock and started to update the files. It starts the program updates for a few seconds then goes to a "404 not found" error. the timer recycles every 60 seconds and starts the updates again and then 404 again. seems to get to 'patchclient.dll' or the one after that when it 404's on me. I do have internet connection.

    Any suggestions?

.NET is a nasty mother if it gets "sideways."

My recommendation there is to uninstall all versions of .NET, beginning with the greatest version number, and work your way down to 1 (or 1.1).

After doing "proper" uninstallations, go find the .NET folder "home," and delete them.

Once you're sure they're gone (you may need to use Microsoft .NET removal tools to fully remove), hit WindowsUpdate and start putting it all back in.

THEN attempt your DDO installation, which ought to provoke the installation of any .NET versions that it needs to run. WindowsUpdate to patch .NET installations as necessary.

Good luck. *hates .NET and it's sloppy installation packing*
