Default what is with all the elitist folks on cannith..?

I am almost to the point of wanting to switch servers… what is really chafing me is hanging join requests… are people so lazy they can’t hit the decline button..? I understand wanting competent players with well built and geared toons to run hi end content with… myDDO checks, no problem… but what is with people been rude about it… it is very frustrating… it makes them look bad… it makes their guilds look bad… and it even makes our server look bad…

I don't think its so much laziness as its just that it can be a lot of work as the raid leader to get swamped by 10-12 tells for the popular raids and then have to go down the list using myddo or asking people in guild/group about the person. Its slightly irritating to me too but I don't stress over it, I just assume anyone who doesn't respond to my join request within 10-15 seconds isn't going to accept and hit up some other group.

    Hello,

Every server has its share of disrespectfull players that makes our playing time stressfull at best. Cannith is no diferent.

1 - But the most important thing is to chill out. Its easy to let yourself go by the generated anger and in no time, you ll end up as one of those players. Not a very good title for this thread.

I am tired of seeing how wonderfull players turned into bad and disrespectfull over the time because they forgot the most important thing. Seriously, take a deep breath and dont let yourself go.

2 - Lead your own LFMs. Its tough, and always a box full of surprises, but you wont have to put up with caveman. If youre unexperienced, you can always look for guides on the internet. Also, you can fail. Its part of life. Rise and repeat.

Hopefully, in no time, you ll be an example to be followed. Perhaps the caveman number will decrease, perhaps not, but I beg you to do your part/best. Its all we can do.

Yep, that's what I do too. Give them about 15 secs, then look for a different pug to join or go run something by myself.

It's really not that big of a deal. If 2-3 people dont make the cut i'll usually try to send them a tell to explain why and such. Usually though theres 20 people on the lfm that don't get in, If I took the time to decline every person then the whole group would be delayed by a decent amount of time waiting on me. Thus, I just let the full group message do the work for me. For any decent raid group that seems to be the norm. How about instead of expecting a community to change for you, you adapt to the societal cue that you are not getting in ( as in not getting accepted within a minute or so)?

Swap servers if you want, you'll find the same behaviors over there too.

I don't think the OP was complaining about groups that fill fast and don't offer explanations but the ones that sit unfilled for extended periods and offer no decline/accept/tell

If that is your qualification for calling people elitist pigs - may I recommend you stay on Cannith. The swine content is higher on many of the other servers, if that is the metric you want to measure by...

Or perhaps they aren't being rude at all, maybe they are giving you a 'second chance' at joining the group.

For example: My lfm says: X quest - some reserved
Usually I'll get more than needed to fill. Anyone who would cut into the reserves will usually have their application wait (or hang as you say), and if all the reserved spots fail to fill for whatever reason (Blame real life usually) - or any already filled spots open - those who had to wait to get accepted will get their "second" application to the group.

All you have to do is check their MyDDO, and if you see this, dont group with them:

i have hi level toons on khyber orien and cannith… i have noticed definite server culture… little things like the way pugs run, the lingo, loot rolls, and countless other things… you don’t see the culture so much at low levels, probably cause of all the new players… anyways I would have to say that the hi end content is a little more pug friendly on Khyber… maybe cause it is the oldest and biggest server… or maybe I remember it that way cause i have not been on there in 5 months…

don't think i am moving my cannith toons...

I have only one plea about elite lfms... Please put some description on.

/fliter, friends only, no first-timers, zerg, reserved, etc etc, all is good.... However lately I've seen some blank lfms for quests regularly pugged, shown for all classes and with little members in group; clicked join > BAM declined in 0.5 sec. In some worse cases autodeclined pops up 10 min later.

Of course you're the leader you have the rights to decline, but when doing an lfm that is obviously not for public... Please let people know

Also if you intend to solo a quest (Unless you're in a mood of sharing chests or need help looting things)... just solo it. Don't make us newbies chase you when your so rocking yet have to serve as your free backup hirelings when things go bad.

Maybe the reason you find khyber more friendly is that you spent enough time there to get to know people and for them to get to know you.

I personally have characters on every server though I began on Cannith.

I find when I go to a different server I tend to hammer my squelch list for a while. But that doesn't last.

Once you're past the harbour with it's Wayward Lobster aggro, over expensive trades and bad advice things relax.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As for High Lvl Pugs I've generally found people to be friendlier on those servers I've reached high lvls on - Cannith, Sarlona, Thelanis than these forums make out.
It can simply be down to luck however as pugging is like family {You don't get to choose}.

you said it… it’s like they really need a CC caster, some one to get traps, a healer, or what ever… and they have the LFM open to every one… no description… if you’re lucky they decline your join request and if your really lucky even send a tell… if you’re unlucky 10 min later you get the party full message… NO COMMUNICATION!!!

Theres no better reason to blacklist someone then they don't respect your time whether its because they can't run an lfm, because they are trying to run epics quests with 250 hitpoints and gear that would make my level 4s embarrassed, or rage quitting out of a quest/raid. I am quite fast to blacklist people that I feel waste my time for one reason or another but I suspect my list isn't all that big compared to many. Main thing is find a good guild to do most of your stuff with I think most people around here would agree that in the end your guild is why you play the game there are very few end-game player that depend on pugs for everything and hence allot of people you find running pugs are the people that aren't going to get anything done anyways.

All the more reason not to pug!

But on the other side people hitting lfms they have no business hitting get ignored.

The lvl 20 raid group for 'cannith crystal' and 'reserved' is not an invite to click, interesting discussion about how awesome the dragon fight is in epic miserys peak is welcome though.

The group that says 'some spots pst' is also not an insta click. I will either insta reject or let you linger depending on if i feel like it.

Asides from that leaving people lingering is bad form.
    To help it-
    1) Assume 60 seconds was a reject and move on
    2) If you really want to join something send a tell first, lfm hits can be missed especially if you get a bunch at once
    3) Turn off anon 'anon 20 wiz requests to join your party' will leave you in limbo
    4) Join a good guild and/or get to know some peeps. Some guilds i will accept on faith, some peeps i just know, and anyone in a guild with a l33t roxxors 14 year invented name will get rejected
