    Default Rouge 13/Artificer 7 trial

    I had an idea for a rouge/artificer hybrid build, using the rouge mechanic int bonus to repeater damage and ability to heal constructs in conjunction with the artificer engineer's ability to unload massive burst damage with fusillade. It will be a very effective trapper, and have excellent burst potential. Not completely sure about the build path, but thinking either go artificer until level 7, then go rouge, or take 2 levels of rouge for evasion and sneak attack, then go artificer. Open to input and constructive criticism. WF might be a better race for this as well, better self healing & buffs, and more relevant bonus feats & enhancements. Was also thinking maybe dump a point off Int and take Str 11, to qualify for power attack at lvl 8.

    another idea i had, but i think is less feasible, would be ranger 6/ rouge 7/ artificer 7. ranger for deep woods sniper, rouge for mechanic or assassin, & artificer for engineer. sniper increases range of PBS and Sneak attack, assassin and mechanic both provide additional damage, and the engineer gives fusillade, allowing insane ranged DPS.

    Keeping a pet lets me bring the wild with me wherever I go. I like it. Keeps me warm inside. Oh, and the wild packs one hell of a bite.

    While the deepwood sniper looks neat, I think it dilutes your sneak damage unnecessarily and puts you in a bind for AP, etc. If you search a bit you can find a few examples of people's thoughts on the Ranger/Rogue/Arti.

    Personally, I'd go

    Rogue 1
    Arti 6
    Rogue rest

    Or similar. Fusilade is great to have early, and Flame Turret is a winner at those mid-levels. Rogue 1 gives a bit better skill bump at first and you'll want evasion eventually - but it isn't really super useful until a bit later.

    The only reason right now to go with rogue levels is if you go all out on int.....since it'll give you int to damage and to hit (sadly you can't stack damage bonuses from both).

    The main problem with that is.....well you have no problem hitting things as a pure artificer right now...so the bonus to hit isn't really that big of a deal. You also can easily keep your trap skills maxed as an artificer which pretty much means you get evasion and sneak attack damage as a rogue and thats it.



    If you go ranger though you get evasion as well.....although admittendly later....but you also get rams might and favored enemies, sprint boost, bark skin and a bunch of free feats.

    If you know you'll be able to take advantage of the sneak attack damage alot then rogue makes sense....but the whole way an artificer is set up makes that less likely. I have a rogue/artificer and I rarely see the sneak attack damage applied...and never when going all out with fusalage etc.

    If they ever make the int damage bonus stack from rogue and artificer....then the build will make sense...but till then it really doesn't make sense to not just go pure artificer instead of artificer rogue....or if you really want evasion to toss in 9-11 ranger levels.

    Additional artificer levels really give you a bunch more then a few rogue levels especially once you hit capstone. I don't think it's worth ditching the capstone or top end artificer levels and better pet unless you are going to get alot out of it.

    The Artificer/Bard combo is one that I see as well worth it. 6 artificer levels and 14 bard levels gives you a ton of great buffs, and excellent song that adds not only to your damage but your pets, hirelings and any other party members, and quite good CC abilities which work quite well with your primary mode of damage.

    Compared to a rogue setup the bard gets about 1/2 of the bonus damage you would from rogue levels.....but gets it all the time vs every type of enemy (even those immune to sneak attack damage etc). You do lose the ability to go freaking insane on int...but honestly if you drop int to 16 your set. You won't get evasion...but I really find that evasion isn't as important for this playstyle.

    Until Deep wood sniper 2 is released I'd hold off on the artificer/ranger build....unless you absolutely NEED evasion for some reason.

    Arti/rogue just isn't that great. I played a arti/rogue/barb (1) build when you could not use artificer with vet status....I loved the speed of the character but other then that it didn't add much. Your almost better off going with Acrobat 12 rogue/7 artificer/1 barbarian if you decide to take rogue levels, since it gives you knockdown immunity, 10% additional faster movement speed (Stacks with barbarians bonus and offsets rune arm movement penalty completely) additional uncanny dodges (good for trap disarmages etc). The choice between 7 artificer levels or 6 and 13 rogue levels is hard. The 7th artificer levels gives you crossbow damage II, damage boost III and flame turrent. The turret only matters early on though...so if you put off the decision it's probably better to go with 13 rogue levels.

    No matter what you pretty much should always shoot straight for arti 6-7...just taking 1 rogue level if your taking any to start (for the bonus skill points). I'd take my second rogue level after getting arti to at least 6 (and probably 7).

    Flame turret is awesome in the mid levels (8-14 or so) and still fairly useful after that.


    Level 8 artificer gives you a free feat, level 9 gives you 15% faster attack speed. Both are well worth it when deciding a split...and also well worth rushing for in a split.

    I find level 10+ as an artificer kinda dull. You just don't have much you really gain each level...although you do get better and better use out of clickies/wands etc. The best long term combo I have found so far is Artificer/Bard since you pretty much get something good every level that way. Go pure artificer for the first 6 levels to solidify your ranged damage and then go pure bard after that. You miss out on turret and speed armor....but you gain a nice damage boost from spells, fascinate, haste, displacement, good hope, greater heroism etc.

    Anyway hope this helps a bit. I've tried a ton of artificer combos. 6 levels of artificer gives you VERY solid ranged damage that lasts throughout the whole game and in my opinion is better then a manyshot build.....but without the long term investment. That opens up tons of class combinations. I like bard the most so far...but I have not tried mixing with favored soul or cleric levels yet. My next combo is going to be artificer 6/FvS 14. I like the idea of a pet and an Archon heh. I'm still not 100% on going with 14 FvS over 8 arti (for the level 7 spell).

    Call me crazy, but I think the folks going with rogue levels are also kinda looking at that sneak damage just a wee bit and possibly the excellent skills.

    another idea i had, but i think is less feasible, would be ranger 6/ rouge 7/ artificer 7. ranger for deep woods sniper, rouge for mechanic or assassin, & artificer for engineer. sniper increases range of PBS and Sneak attack, assassin and mechanic both provide additional damage, and the engineer gives fusillade, allowing insane ranged DPS.
