Essence drop rate pretty low.

So I just finished a third life TR, crunching every weapon I picked up and looting all chests and I have less than 500 of each essence. Thats enough to make about 2 shards of each school at level 70. Making it impossible to progress, I understand people wanted a grind but having to TR 10 times to get a level is stupid. I used to get 5000 essences per school a week, I guess I should be glad I got ahead before the nerf.

agreed, i noticed that my crafter hit a complete brick wall recently and started to keep track of how often i was grabbing essences from chests and the rate is painfully low. I've been trying to do tests at different difficulties and relative quest levels and nothing clear has come up. Just few to no essences in chests across the board. Still looking to test to see if raid chests are any better but that process tends to be a little slower to get a good sample size...

Same for me B. I had thousands of Lg. ones and just gave them to my buddy who crafts. I keep pulling so many it's a pain to keep handing them off to him when I get them from a run he's not in because I'm still getting a ton.

Make sure you use the unbound altar to craft, too. You can make a lot more than 2 shards at level 70 with 500 essences.

Well, I've noticed for a period of time that the rates seem to keep going down... Yet Release notes, player statements, etc say they are increasing... Dunno... I just know buying essences have become harder to get at reasonable prices: 3 weeks ago, max listed AH price was 1kpp per ess, now it is not uncommon to see 2-3kpp listed...

A time ago, it wasn't uncommon for me to pull 35 or more from a shroud... last couple weeks walking out of a shroud with 10, I considered myself lucky...

I'm just glad mote of night were in such high demand... Traded enough motes for over 5000 Greater essences during mabar...

However, the most reliable way for me to acquire Essences is by deconstruction of vendor trash...

Didn´t notice a drop. Sure, now it drops when you are some levels over the quest difficulty, but besides of that, I am looting quite often 3, 4, 8 essences.

Was in a Shroud on the cleric last night and came out of there with a total of 7 greater essences.

Guild renown was dropping in every chest though.
