Default fun runs = fail runs?

Tried joining 3 ToD's today, the first took too long to fill and i had to do some work, the second lfm had been up for ages and healers weren't joining. While it was up I saw another run already with healers, I was doubtful of the players in my party as well. The other LFM has a few people I've played with before, however I know the WF 12/8 is a rubbish tank as I've stripped myself of gear and dropped boosts and autocleave and still taken agro off him (even with time to build agro). ToD normals easy so I join their group and we get going relatively quickly.

Instructions are given as to who was doing what and we get going. During the wait I've MyDDOed the party and although I'm not the set tank, I know I'm tanking no matter what I do. Anyway I say nothing as to not offend anyone.

Fight starts and the 12/8 and caster healing him die fighting the orthon after 30 secs. Two melee die fighting the "fake sulu" as the party leader called him. I take the opportunity to say that I recommend that I tank Horoth as I have the highest DPS. At this point I've held agro on both judge and jailer missing ~30% of my DPS and am asked if I think I can hold agro on Horoth.

Part two the kiter dies along with half the party because of Mabar lag, I did not have any lag. I did not know it specifically targeted partiular members of the party to stop them providing vital roles. Buy a PC that's not a piece of ****.

Part 3 starts fine until I stop receiving heals while tanking Horoth (at 30%) he's back to 100% by the time I've got agro back. Would have had no problem killing Horoth and kiting or tanking sulu for the rest but the party leader suggests a reform instead. People DDoor out and I say thanks for the party and I wont be running with you again.

    /story time

I would have been happy to run it with them again if they had taken it more seriously. However they treated it like a guild fun run even though only a few of them seemed to know each other, most of the party was PUGers. The in jokes between the 3 or 4 of them were flying around throughout the quest while they ****ed the raid for everyone else.

I've got 8 completions since I've been back at cap and that was the first wipe and the only one that wasn't taken seriously. My point is to take raids seriously (can still joke around to a degree) unless your in a guild party or you're competent enough to combine fun and raids.

    And stop using Dial-up.

Seriously I have ran with a few people who have constant lag. I'm sure it is an issue on their end. I do not even know how they survive the crappy game play it must be miserable.

One person I will no longer run with because they have casued too many party wipes being the healer that lags out.

4 people wasted an hour for 8 other people because they did not give the raid the respect it deserves.

If you fail a run and it was out of your hands it's no problem. If you muck it up for everyone else because you're a joke you shouldn't have tried to lead one in the first place.

Sounds like you need to not group with people who have vastly different outlooks.

Doesn’t your server have a bunch of high-end raiding guilds?

I'm in a guild with "high-end" (don't like the word, gear vs no gear is the difference for the most of the time) raiders, a small one though and they have different playtimes to me for the most part.

Playtime was limited to ~ 2 hours today and I was off timer for ToD. I've found ToD normal Pugs to rarely fail as it's based solely on agro management and the ability of the healers to hit a few buttons over and over.

Part ones the hardest part and the most obvious to point out flaws in the party. 1 made it evident that the assigned tanks couldn't keep agro while being given every chance and that the healers apparently have to mash the keyboard with their faces as they do not have any fingers to cast healing spells.

People always say in these threads don't PUG or run your own raid. I've pugged 8/9 good runs in ToD this life and was unguilded for all but one. I meet more good players than bad and meet people I can rely on and people that can rely on me. I joined the fist group and was asked if I could tank. A guy who I've run with ~5 times answered for me saying that I could. I appreciate that kind of support from people I've run with a limited amount of times and give the same back if needed. IMO I like PUGing everything but epic raids, I've pugged ~6 so far this life and have ended up leading several of them half way through the run due to weaker leadership.

I shall adjust my sleeping habits accordingly.

Which is why I was irritated with what happened.

Just to give a fuller Picture. I wasn't in the first run, but was asked to join the reform on my gimpy bard. As far as I'm aware, the rest of the party was the same as the first run minus the OP.

    We completed without any hassle.

Make of that what you will.

After MyDDOing the OP, I have come to the conclusion that this statement shows some of OP's problems with grouping.

Unlike high AC tanks, barb Horo-tanks can be tricky at times. They need to have high enough HP (>650 cos Horo can disintegrate for 600) and healing amp. Being able to generate sufficient threat is a given. Just for good measure, Horo barb-tanks should carry SF pots too. If you don't meet those pre-requisites it is really better off not being the tank.

You'd also want to know the player too - that they're on the ball and are not going to let their rages run out.

Which is why my guildies never get me to tank Horoth as I'm always half asleep by TOD (that and my healing amp is nothing to write home about :P ) I don't especially enjoy spending 10mins looking at a devils purple groin regions for 10mins though so I am not fussed by this.

Sorry to hear you had a bad run Consumer. Hopefully you will find people to run with who you find fun and will let you tank.

MyDDO is broken....at least for me anyways.

I can MyDDO myself and it will show me as a level 11 or 12 character that I was 2 lives ago....
