KotC Amrath Set choices

Does anyone have any information on the set bonus of Lorinthor's Belt + Ring? How much is the "extra damage against Evil Outsiders"?

Is Lorinthor's a generally useful set, or should I rather stick to one of the Barb sets on my 18/2 monksplashed KotC ?

I don't recall how much extra damage it is but I would say that it is probably not "generally useful" Depending on the damage it may be situationally useful when fighting evil outsiders. The spell resistance is too low to be useful most of the time and I'm guessing that the heightened awareness probably doesn't do much for your AC.

I want to say it is either 2d6 or 3d6. I can't remember off the top of my head.

Also worth noting from these threads is that the set bonus also applies to mobs which are not affected by the KotC Fiendslaying Effect, i.e. Tieflings. I think it's not a bad choice if you are fine with being put into one corner. Since my Pally is not my only Melee, I dont see much harm in specializing his DPS.

Right. You're already specializing yourself just by having the PrE, so why not be even better at your specialty? Another advantage: the set is usually really easy to acquire because it's trash to everyone else... my Lorinthor's ring was literally passed to me before I even got to the chest, whereas it seems like I'm rolling against every melee in the raid every time Kyosho's ring drops.

The Lorinthor's ring is a hard ring to get. It just doesn't drop that often. Personally, I have only seen it once, and the sorc who pulled it took it.

Apparently I was lucky then, but I thought all the rings dropped at the same rate, or close to it.

Why pigeon-hole yourself?

Both the KotC and Ravager's sets are belt and ring.

Running a quest full of evil outsiders? Go with the KotC set.

Running a quest with few to no evil outsiders? Slap on the Ravager's.

Profit.
