Are feats gained by CHARACTER or CLASS level?

Hi all, I’m a level 9 character (Fighter 2/Wizard 7) and was expecting to get an extra feat (general, not class bonus feat) at level 9 based on that rule that you get an extra feat every three levels. However, I didn’t get anything. SO, does this mean that you gain extra feats based on your CLASS level rather than CHARACTER level?

Character Levels 1,3,6,9,12,15,18.

Class levels as appropriate for classes that get bonus feats (Monk, Fighter, Wizard, Artificer).

I'm betting you got one at level 9.

So I'm guessing you took Fighter level 1, then went 5 Wizard, then 1 more fighter, then more Wizard.

The feat you took at level 9 was Greater Spell Focus: Necromancy. You're welcome.

Also, a bit of off-hand commentary : Power Critical is useless. I would recommend changing that. Weapon Focus/Power Attack/anything else is better.

Character level. I'm sure you got the feat and maybe picked something without realizing it.

HA! Wow i wasn't expecting that! You're totally right. I'm an idiot. I had no idea you could check out somebody elses character like that!

Yeah totally, i'm going to do a greater reincarnation+1 at level 12 anyway. Take a level of monk instead of fighter i think.
