    Default LOTRO Account banned, but have not played for months

    Like the title says. My account name is different then in DDO it has a 1 instead of a 2. Assume account people can figure that one out.

    I assume someone broke into my account due to the horrible coding on LOTRO forums. Whatever the cause I don't care. Restore the account.

    You've been around long enough to know that account support isn't done from the forums.

    I'm also pretty sure you realize that DDO =/= LOTRO.

    So I'm a little confused as to why you're posting here demanding that account support for DDO fixes your LOTRO account.

    You have been around long enough to know that they are both the same company and when an account is banned you can not post in the forums.

    You have also been around long enough to know that random bans that make no sense are poor business and that a security issue in one game is something that players of any game that the company runs might want to know about.

    Oh and fyi. I'm not the only person from my rather small guild who has had random account bans occur in LOTRO so it's something that others might want to check out if they have not looked over there recently.

    And of course I went through Turbine's recommended route of reversing a ban, but having dealt with their front line people before I have little confidence in them.

    Their account system over there was compromised - giving the hackers access to the user names and passwords. From what I was told a very very small % of people they thought were in danger ended up being temporarily banned until they contact support and they got a message saying so. Have you checked your junk mail folder, or tried to log into it on the myaccount.whatever site?

    Just in case you are wondering this is actually what is not allowed on the forums. Telling people you gave them negative rep. I however did not give you negative rep for your first post in this thread.

    Amazingly there is more then one person who can give negative reputation on the forums.

    Yup, logged onto my account on the myaccount whatever site. I did not see anything special on there regarding contacting them.

    Just saw that I was banned for 40 years. I used their little help section to fill out the proper form to appeal a suspension.

    Interestingly my forum name on LOTRO is different then my account name, probably because I had not logged onto that for a very long time...at least according the the account page. Which should actually mean that my game account is safer then other people's who were forced to have the same account name/pw for both account and forums if they had been active...unless they did some sort of backdoor thing on the forums when they changed that on all old accounts also?

    Pretty sure they changed everyone's forum over there to use the account login no matter if you had logged in or not.

    Stupid idea anyway. It only benefits hackers and people that are unlikely to come to the forums.

    Bans cannot be discussed on the forums, regardless of the game.
