    Default Deathblock and Deathward?

    Hi!

Definition of Deathblock: this effect grants immunity to all death spells and magical death effects.

    Death Spells are:
    -Circle of Death
    -Destruction (spell)
    -Finger of Death
    -Phantasmal Killer
    -Power Word: Kill
    -Prismatic Ray
    -Prismatic Spray
    -Slay Living
    -Symbol of Death
    -Wail of the Banshee

Why using a Deathward item I am protected against Level Drain attacks and using a Deathblock, I am not?

Those spells under "magical death effects", what are they? Level Drain isn´t?

In other words, using a Deathblock item, against what I am protected?

Any instadeath spell/ability like I.E xoriat flenser/render tend to do vorpals often enough, oddly not the 1s in invaders, but if u run purge the fallen shrine in sands those guys vorpal.
I found to avoid drains, u need to do necro and get the silver flame amulet, 10 charges but as a caster is more than enough.
And AH for deathward scroll sometimes there are a few available.

Using a deathblock item you are protected against direct death-effects. Everything that kills you instantly that is not damage (so no protection versus maximized empowered heightenend critical disintegrate). So protection against death-spells (Finger of Death, Destruction, Wail etc.), vorpals etc.

Deathward has the addition to protect you from negative energy stuffies

This includes Negative Levels and Negative Energy Damage from spells such as Harm and Inflict Light Wounds.

Indeed, + it also protects you form the greenish-orb-aura-thingie that some skellie casters have (which is the same as an inflice*something*wounds, much like the healing aura of the cleric RS)

Note instant death spells like Slay Living, Dismissal, Finger of Death etc. got a weird damage element to them a few updates past, where if the victim of the spell makes their save, they will instead take damage from the spell. It seems bugged so as to double-strike on a victim, with an average level 9 Slay Living dealing 70-80 damage twice on an enemy that makes their save...which can be enough to kill them anyways!

Some items will protect against Energy Drain though:

Silver Flame Necklace (can be upgraded to 10 charges, so it is effectively a 'Death Ward item', once those charges are exhausted it is just a Deathblock item)
Mantle of Worldshaper, Scarab of Spell Absorption, Ioun Stone - each of these can protect against any harmful spell targeted on you.

There are also some Beholder and Doomsphere specific items, as well as a trinket that acts as such available in DDO Store.
