Yes it would make it more fun to be able to sneak around thru Doors, open chests, and hit switchs.

We can disable device's in full sneak.

That would be worse than what we have now.

you could always just use a shadow(10kpp/200 motes) or a greater shadow(25kpp/500 motes) as a distraction. They last a long time since they are ghosts, so you can do you stuff then sneak again.

Agreed, this would make it much more feasible to sneak through a quest as an alternative to smash and grab. However, for some quests, this could be considered too much of an easy button, so it should probably have some cost, like maybe a d20 roll or a feat like "improved stealth" or something.

levers, maybe depending on what they were used for.

Doors? no way. to find out why, try this experiment. go to a room at work or
school or wherever that has people in it. open the door, see if anyone looks.
if they see you (a human dressed somewhat appropriately i hope) they see what they expect to see
and forget about it. if they see nothing, well, they're probably going to investigate or at least be curious.

anyway, it breaks stealth because it draws attention to you. so no, not signed.

Just thought that this might be a cool ability to have for an eventual Ninja Spy 3 PRE. Like "master of shadow" or some other name with a stealthy sound to it.

not everybody in the party is going to have high sneak! especially on missions were sneaking is fun like gywlians stand and ringleader, it's faster yet to just run through.

I do agree that it shouldn't be automatic....ie say opening the door or flipping the lever puts you at 4 eyes state for say 20 seconds. Thus if you have enough skill you can pull it off most of the time, but if you only have 10 points any mob in range will investigate the odd occurrence.

Or if you want to add to it you could add a mechanic that the door has x chance to squeak, a toon could search the door to find rusted hinges and apply oil to the door. This could bring a bonus to the groups exp for stealth.

When interacting keep sneak active, and have a fresh spot/listen check made by nearby mobs at a penalty to the rogue. There, now we can have reasonable stealth options in the game. /signed

Of course, one thing the game does not currently offer is an option to knock out an enemy by hitting them from behind. The Witcher 2 did this almost perfectly, where if there was a solo mob, you could sneak up behind them and knock them out. Apply this to DDO, and you would have a real winner. This would NOT work when there are multiple enemies in the room of course.

We already have this. Assassin rogues get it at level 12 :P

Sure, if I did it, I'd be detected, but a halfling with 50 years of brutal training would be able to watch those people and time when no one is looking in the direction of the door... Maybe he'd even squirt some Sahuagin oil on the hinges to prevent creaks.

id say like with an assassin strike it keeps you in stealth, but if any mobs are nearby they still no your there and come at you, but if none are close enough to notice you kill a guy they probably are not close enough to notice a door open.

Id also love to see an option to toggle pulling our punhes, then we could choose to avoid killing. Considering we are denied any evil alignment options it seems logical the choice to be heroic or moral enough to choose to spare creatures that are not inherently evil like kobolds per se would be fun. It also would add extra use to weapons like weakening and stunning.

yeah, you can crack the door open and peer in, but even an elf with 1000 years of training and experience
is not going to be able to see all around the room he is trying to stealthily enter. now, if we had some
fiber optic cameras and other goodies I could see it

on further review, I like the idea of the other poster:
let us stay in sneak mode, however make another listen/spot check at a serious penalty to the
    rogue/sneaker.

To one of the other posters you can "knock out" mobs with sap, but you have to take the feat. It's a daze ability which lasts a decent amount of time - longer if the attack counted as a sneak according to the description.
