The ones saying they have 10k+ rep have some serious sledge hammers and I know one or two of those will slam a person with less than 100 rep into automod status, and as we all know automod status is just file 13 (trash) as none of my posts were ever posted no matter how nice or innocuous they were during that period.
Well maybe they need to make auto-mod status a little lower then... 3 people with high rep hitting you once each shouldn't be allowed to knock you into auto-mod status, I agree.

Sometimes I have gotten VERY snippy in a thread argument, and later that day I'll see that 3-4 people have neg repped me for it...

I then reread my post, and realize "Yeah... I guess I did cross the line there... I do deserve that neg rep"... and then I'll be a little more careful posting in the future...

So, for me, the rep system works perfectly... It keeps me from crossing that line. No one has to report me, no mods need to do any work dealing with me... I self-regulate.

Now I do occasionally (once a week) get undeserved neg rep. I just report it to the mods, and they always remove it. I feel bad they have to do that extra work... They probably should keep track of who is giving out pointless neg rep. But that's up to them if they feel their time is being wasted.

Most people I have seen with really high neg rep deserved it. Most people who are calm and mature and post good ideas seem to have a lot of positive rep. The system may not be perfect, but it seems to be working okay to me.
Neg rep? No, it really didn't and after Turbine saw it from me reporting it they removed my rep and that thread. Did anything happen to them for wrongly repping me? Nope, because it was ~3 of them that did me in (each with over 7k + rep).

There, I gave you a little buffer if there's ever a next time.

    Thank you.

np - I've had more blue rep than either of the other colours so figured it out pretty quickly that my rep was going up rather than down.

    Thank you mate.

One thing I will say is I had over 300 rep and these 3 big dogs repped me down to -407 and I know for a fact ~3500 positive carries a weight of 60 positive rep.

Seriously everyone should carry the same weight so remove the weighted system and it would work out so much better and the one thing I learned is to post randomly and mostly lurk around Turbine's current system.

See, what I do not get is how neg rep is made when you do not attack a poster or curse etc...

I just received some neg rep by one person for -28 because I believe Turbine is making changes directly related to getting people to spend more in the DDO store. I see it more and more with each update but that doesn't give someone the right to neg rep you for asking Turbine if they are doing it for that reason OR is Turbine giving us neg rep behind the scenes via a worker of theirs?

OP here again. I have a couple of observations after watching the course of the discussion:

First, despite what some posters say, neg rep is not always deserved. As examples, here are a couple of posts I made that initially got seriously bad rep.

    http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=345598, http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=340797

I certainly allow that people may not have agreed with my point of view, or may not have appreciated my attempt at humor, but giving them neg rep was entirely uncalled for.

Second, it does pay to report if you think you have been wrongly given bad rep. I complained and the unfair neg rep was removed.

Its a player, of at least moderately high rep power, who likely disagrees with what you said, and uses the rep button the same way someone would the "like / dislike" system on YouTube or FaceBook.

Which is one of the reasons they need to kill it with a skillet.

The proper term is Welfare Epics®

Some forumites also accept Walmart Epics®

Yeah, its hilarious what reasons people will push the red griefing button for.

I always felt that automod should be due to reports and not rep.

Not agreeing and not acting right are two different things, heh.

This is my feeling as well but at least on Youtube (I don't do Facebook so I have no idea over there) one person disliking you is worth one dislike whereas here one person disliking what you said carries various weights of different proportions. At least on Youtube my account doesn't get shut down from posting more videos because people didn't like what I said but here all it takes is a few to effectively shut you down because of the weight system.

Really, who in their infinite wisdom though to make it a weighted system in the first place? Weighted systems means X has more power and more of a voice than Y does and I am sorry that is just not right regardless what planet people come from.

I was instructed to report my undue negative rep via the exclamation mark and I have but I was wondering how long it takes until Turbine acts upon it?

When I reported the unfair neg rep on some of my posts, it was acted upon within a few days. Others may have had different experiences.

Still not acted upon for me and it makes me wonder if it isn't a Turbine employee doing it under their own power or via a Turbine directive.
