Bumping in case anyone has any new ideas. I'm anticipating that GW2 will steal some of my time, as will Skyrim.

On the one hand (as happened with U12) it drives me nuts that content is released that is buggy and breaks existing functionality. On the other, I enjoy that it encourages me to break away from the game to try new things for a bit.

I have money to spend on an MMO (Haven't bought either of the last 2 packs, own everything else), so keep the ideas coming!

Again, thanks all for your posts (past and future)

since i am bored of ddo but can't find any better game for my taste, i am looking at future mmos
it seems that neverwinter may indeed leech a part of the ddo player base, actually it seems to be a game developed to completely challenge ddo on its niche market and appears to be very close to ddo, and will be released as f2p at launch... and this is based on d&d 4... teasing but they won't have bards at launch apparently

Problem is you still can not really use the terrain to your advantage like DDO. Once the shot is off, it is off. You will be hit, and there is very little in the way of "armor" persay.
I hated champs on line as soon as I realized it was champions in name only and really had nothing to do with the pnp game I loved for many years of course my love for the pnp game pretty much died when SL took over.

I always assumed I wouldn't like 4.0 and boycotted it once I read the initial core books. Recently I've found the Heroes of Neverwinter facebook game and have begun playing the 4.0 edition app -- turns out it's heaps more fun than I thought originally! So, yes, Neverwinter is the way to go in the future.

Not even if they paid me would I play the new neverwinter nights or any 4.0 game. I found the app on facebook only slightly less boring than farmville

DDO is not a pure implementation of D&D 3.5, translating D&D to a MMO world impacts the rules. So I wouldn't deny having a look at Neverwinter, how will they translate D&D 4 ? They may do it well.

If you find a recipe for turning **** into gold, can you please email that to me ASAP....??

There is no way to turn 4.0 into something good.

Impossible since 4.0 is worse than playing nothing at all

Well thank you to share you opinions lol, I wasn't expecting 4.0 to be hated, and I don't know it. Time will tell about D&D in MMOs.

Dark Age of Camelot had or has melee combinations some of which are positional. That's about as close as it gets...you cannot sidestep a ray or ranged attack....though you can try to get out of the way of ballista/catapult/trebuchet fire. It uses 3 faction PvP with siege engines and castles with walls you can bring down...does not have the gameplay flexibility of DDO, though. (Across the 3 realms there was flexibility so the all-PvE land or all-PvP land (vs being contained to PvP zones) you could be a caster/melee/classic-style healer...but no multiclassing...and if you were a cleric you couldn't solo for **** as smiting got nerfed severely early...you had to choose to spec in enhancement or healing...great)

Tried DCUO and found the combat extremely bad relative to DDO.

Been checking out some MMO vids and Fallen Earth seems to have a similar combat style to DDO, though the setting is Post-Apocalyptic and not Fantasy

City of Heroes as well possibly, haven't tried it out yet either. As well Lineage2 just had a massive content/update & went F2P as well. If anyone wants to give those a shot/try. Let us know how it goes !:P!: )!

    http://www.mmorpg.com is a excellent resource(IMO).
