the real EPIC FAIL is that the Rogue has the most HP!!![]()
Sorry Guys, I know this is not your fault but two times in a row I couldnt loot an epic chest.
No need to boycott, just need to know all the info.
We (a guild of 4 completionist on Argo) are all stuck at 20 as artificers, thanks to the OTHER big arti bug, and have started doing epics. We had done 10 or so epics when, lo and behold:
A ticket was submitted, and promptly closed. The ticket was resubmitted, and closed with again NO DM interaction at all, just the standard 'not a known issue, please submit a bug report' (of coarse the forums/bug reporting were down, so meh, we lost 1/2 hour of our time.
2 days later, in eVoN2 again, and a spider doesn't spawn to get the blossom, so we put in a ticket. DM pops the last spider, all is good, and he asks if there is anything else he can do for us, so we asked about the epic fail chest. He explained they think it is the dogs, possibly if they are dead/lost/abandoned in another instance (I have to admit that previously if I forgot about my dog somewhere I didn't always relog to get it back). You can note in the picture that 2 dogs are dead, am pretty sure least 1 isn't inside the instance, but died elsewhere.
As of now, we have done well over 30 epic (prob closer to 40) with at least 3, usually 4, artis in the group, this was the only chest to bug. We still occasionaly bring out out dogs to pull levers, or grab aggro, but we definitely make sure the dog is put away before the quest is completed.
It is sad that there is no notice, or warning about this. I am not turbine bashing here, but if you guys know about an issue...speak up! Communication with your player base is important, especially if it is about a bug that you DO know about. Just tell us, we won't be super angry, it is nice to know these thing though so we can work around it, or do something else.
I heard that this is due to arti's pets, when they died and were never raised or never left another quest/instance, then they cause the chest to fail.
This only happened to me once in epic Claw a while ago. I am hearing about it happening more lately.
Been running epics with a Guildy on his Arti and havent had any issues ~ but he does always put his pet away after use...
Looks like the pets are the issue not the class per se...

Weird glitches like this happen sometimes. Even back in the early days, I didn't get a waterworks completion because it said I didn't complete one of the objectives, although I did every single thing for all the parts all the way through, just like everybody else, yet I was screwed out of an end reward and had to start completely over.
what u get from partying for raids and the like - last 2 days :
* normal shroud given up because buttons in puzzles simply does not work.... (baaaad ! its the core of the whole game...)
* epic wiz king fail because of these arti dogs ? It was btw the most elegant wiz king execution ive ever seen ....
I suppose the conclusion of this tread is never to have them in epics.... dogs ? or artificers ?
Well ... I can 'solo' this fantastic artificer .... and its great in itself, Hand of Tomb and all .... and its great that the but something is not quite right ?
Hoping for more stable days![]()
Ok we finally got conformation on hte know issues thread:
NEW - Epic chests sometimes will not open if there is an Artificer in the group whose pet is dead on quest completion.

There you go everyone, make sure your dog is in its box before you complete the epic!
This isn't exactly true. I was an Artificer in Epic Bargain and my pet never died but we still got the EPIC FAIL and couldn't open the chest.NEW - Epic chests sometimes will not open if there is an Artificer in the group whose pet is dead on quest completion.

Was your pet in the quest with you, or lost in another instance?
Was you dog alive in another instance, and you summoned him during the quest?
Are either of these questions true for another arti in the party?
also:
Did you submit a ticket or bug report?
Since this was a big deal for you I am sure you got a ss of the dog standing next to the unopenable chest.
Also since this is implying an even bigger issue, can you please post you ss?
We did probably 80-100 epics before we TRed this time around, and with 4 artis in the party, only had the epic fail problem once. I fail to see why it is necessary to even have your dog out during epic quests, even with huge stat numbers/hp, they need constant babysitting or they will die pretty quickly. Sure they are situationally useful, pulling levers, maybe getting aggro before a big fight, but all in all, do poorly in epics.
tl;dr:
Make sure your dog is in it's box before the quest is finished!
all I know is for every epic group ive put together, Ive never invited an arti. Even had to apologize to one because the guy was actually built for epic trapping. And every time ive gotten an epic chest that worked. I usually farm the sentinels and von series for em.
Through avarice, evil smiles; through insanity, it sings.
i was in a evon1 not long ago and one of the guys got this bug, was no artis present and he was definitely present during the whole quest.
so i dunno about the its the arti dog fault thing. i mean that certainly could be a bug that causes this but its not the only reason this happens for sure

I've seen and have been able to reproduce this type of bug in Epic Small problem, in house P, but it involved trying to shortcut the quest and skip a lot of fighting and it only happens when you do things out of order in that quest.
I confess to not being terribly familiar with the objective/completion mechanics of A Small Problem, but what you're describing sounds similar to the situation I see regularly in Epic Into The Deep. The epic chest is spawned once the Hezrou is killed, but the quest is not actually complete (and therefore, the eChest won't open) until the High Priest is also killed.
If that's the case, this and the bug described in the thread are not quite the same thing.
