Default Cannot log in -- crashing on server

Okay, bear with me. I currently play on Orien (not with any super-high characters, but still) and up until late last night, I was doing that just fine-- then, it started crashing with a generic Windows error prompt. I've yet to resolve this and cannot log in on Orien.

Curious, I tried to log into another server (Khyber) and to my surprise, that worked just fine. I've restarted the computer, but I don't exactly feel like dumping the time needed for a full reinstall. Is that my only option at this point, though?

    Any help is appreciated!

What kind of generic windows error prompt do you see?

    What does it say?

It just tells me, "dndclient has stopped working", tells me Windows can check online for a solution (ha ha, right) and when I prompt it for problem details...

    Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
    Application Name: dndclient.exe
    Application Version: 1.16.0.8030
    Application Timestamp: 4e7d4b7a
    Fault Module Name: DINPUT8.DLL
    Fault Module Version: 6.0.6001.18000
    Fault Module Timestamp: 4791a672
    Exception Code: c0000005
    Exception Offset: 00015b7b
    OS Version: 6.0.6002.2.2.0.768.3
    Locale ID: 4105
    Additional Information 1: d641
    Additional Information 2: 7090e815827e2c3105678f2b0b7f61b8
    Additional Information 3: 4b05

...which is uh, a lot of numbers. Again, I can log in to other servers; it's strictly Orien (at least as far as I know) that causes me this problem.

That's an error related to Directx (the underlying software DDO and many other software programs rely on for multimedia and graphics). Did you change anything graphics or sound or mouse or anything related on your PC?

First, in my opinion you should restart your system just to make sure the problem doesn't fix itself.

Then, there's an article in the Turbine Knowledge Base about this, go to http://support.turbine.com and type "dinput8" into the search box at the top left and click SEARCH. Follow the directions in that article.

    See if that helps...

pls verify if its just one character that you cant login, or just orien. this is important.
