    Just a thought

Not pure I know but honestly your initial request specs sounded a little 'magical' to me.

    Anywayz ...

How about bard16/artificer6. WC or SS/ combat engineer.

A few ideas re the following combo are floating up under Specialists.

Good hunting and grand singing with whatever Bard makes u feel magical.

What about dwarf 14 bard 4 fighter 2 rogue (or 2 barb or 2 fighter for 6 fighter) or even 16 bard 4 fighter, warchanter all the way. You can prolly get some 600 HP at 20, almost full warchanters ability (you wont have AC song OMG !!!), but will deal pretty decent dps.

A wee lazy to put a build there but asked for i would. I've played one i can tell you it's really funny tae play
    Tarnesh(GateauFRANCIS, Life 10/10+) / Thazok(GateauTUNES, Life 5/4) / Thaerom(GateauHJEALS, Life 3/3)
Iccir's Badger Minsc and Boo approve this build

I skimmed the thread so it's possibly been addressed, but see if the virtuoso in my sig would work for you. Adjust however you want.

    - Pure Bard
    - TWF
    - Not Drow
    - Solo friendly (aka not party dependant)
    - Does take +2 dex tome, so stats would need to be adjusted
    - My toon is twinked because it was a TR but the OP has a basic version
    - Has song based CC (caper/enthrall) as well as some limited spell based CC (mass suggestion, OID)

I think you forgot that Ranger Dilly grants proficiency with martial ranged weapons. I'm pretty sure Bard doesn't have longbow proficiency.
They can masters touch it tho. The proficiency isn't a req going with that spell. I use masters touch quite a bit when it comes to weapons.

See my Bardcher thread for some sample builds. Playing pure bard is pretty tough due to feat shortage, though - is it really that important?
At level 6, I'll get Negotiator, and swap it out for Rapid Shot when I gain access to Bard Extra Song IV
FYI, Rapid Shot is a pre-req for Manyshot; Extra Song IV doesn't become available until lvl 10.
At level 18, I'll get Maximize for my healing.
You won't have Quicken which is a good one for a healer (or really any battle caster); and personally I wouldn't want to play a bard w/out Toughness, even one who (in theory) hangs back far enough that she doesn't get hit.

After much consideration, I've decided not to go with the Bardcher. Namely because I don't really know what I'm doing with archers in the first place.

(And I remember looking at the DDO Wiki and not seeing "Rapid Shot" in the list of requirements for Manyshot, but I'll trust players on this over the wiki)

So, instead... I decided to go half-elf.

    And take Fighter Dilly.

Yeah, I know, it's easily replaceable with Master's Touch, but I don't actually want to use Master's Touch. It gets old, and when I forget, it takes me awhile to realize why I'm missing so much. This way, I don't need to bother with the spell, and I can take a different tier 1 spell instead.

I can still go Virtuoso or Warchanter. Need to decide which one to take before I reach level 3.

    Hmm.
