Fists of light. A light monk attack.

By going with the path of harmonious balance at level 3 you get a strike called fist of light that when it hits puts a healing curse on the target. Then every time that target is struck in melee who ever hits gets 1-2 hp.

The other way is to get a pair of handwraps with vampirism on them which give you 1 hp per strike.
Put the two together and you get 2-3 hp back per swing. Get 50% healing amp and FoL goes to 1-3. Get 100% healing amp and FoL becomes 2-4 and vampirism becomes 2 points per swing.

I should caution you that at level 3 up to say 10 FoL isn't all that great things die in too few hits to get much health back and the ki cost at 10 per attempt is a little steep early on. When at lower levels running low on health I have on occasion taken off my good damage wraps so things will live longer so I can get more ki/health out of them.

Stuns plus fist of light make soloing later Levels a breeze though , espically explorer areas. With a light monk with a decent stun the desert , orchard , gianthold and vale all become your personal playground. That you wander for hours consuming no resources.

FoL as stated above. And after using the 3 light attacks in a row run away and hit the finishing move for more healing (or stand there and hit the finisher). Then back to dealing out more healin' hurt.

Or a Vampiric weapon such as epic souleater or unexpressed Dream Edge's can replicate this effect on a dark monk =).
