    Default Mabar preview?

Given the ...ahem... issues with the return of Crystal Cove a few weeks ago, can we expect a Mabar preview on Lama this week?

There were a ton of player suggestions last fall on how to fix problems with the Mabar mechanics. Since Turbine has had almost a year to deal with them, I would hope that more was changed in the event than just the handwraps.

I recall, but cannot quickly track down the comments from the last event. I posted a wall of text in the middle of this thread with my personal thoughts, and saw a lot of people posting with common sentiments.

There were other suggestion threads last fall as well - there was a great one that I cannot track down that was very detailed and exhaustive. I vaguely recall seeing some developer comments afterwards, but I was unable to track down any commitment from the devs to rework the event.

The Crystal Cove event got a lot of things right that Mabar got wrong. I love the Mabar gear, but don't feel like wasting hours on multiple failed dragon runs, walking away with nothing because the game developer decided that it would be interesting to turn the tragedy of the commons into an event.

It is no fun to end up in a bunch of partly filled instances, or worse, ones stuffed with lazy freeloaders hoping for a free spectral dragon scale while they alt-tab away to browse the web. Among many other things, the grouping mechanics and the incentives were broken in Mabar. Please tell me that they have been fixed.

There has been a motion to preview the Mabar Festival. SECONDED. Calling the vote...all in favor say "AYE!"

    *chorus of AYE's*

    All opposed, say "NAY!"

    *crickets*

The AYE's have it. Preview Mabar.

I think for now the lam is going to be strictly u11p1.

Hopefully after u11p1 they do a mabar lam to iron out any possible kinks. O.o

Great points. The ability to select your group for Cove makes it a lot more attractive to run. The randomness of the group mechanic in Mabar was a drawback imho. I've heard this sentiment echoed in some of the Crystal Cove runs I was in over the weekend.

I actually kinda liked the "grab random people playing" aspect, 'cause you could just go in figuring if even half the people involved knew what they were doing you were golden. I could just run around Mabar and then enter without waiting for a group.

Mind, I totally understand the desire to go in with a PARTICULAR group, so a happy medium could be found. Say, groups go in together, and a check box (either the party leader or the first one in) for whether or not you'll allow random people in that level range to fill out the party. That way, groups go in together, a party of 3 can go in together and get help, a party of 5 can go in together and decide they'd rather not have some random person who may be a liability, people running around groupless can get shoved together...
