    Default Off-hand weapons equip into main hand

    "Off-hand weapons will now equip into a character's main hand, if no main hand weapon is equipped."

    This sounds like it is going to be quite the annoying change since I often use offhand-only weapon sets when I'm using scrolls.

    Rather than "Potency in offhand" weapon-set-> Heal scrolls in main hand. Potency item gets moved to main hand, use scroll and potency item becomes unequipped.

    Same with Masters touch scrolls if you are TWF. Can't have them in offhand slots to switch to each easily, will have to mess around in the inventory screen every time.

    Did you actually test this?

    It says WEAPONS. Not weapon-sets. They are very much functionally different and i'd assume weapon sets with no mainhand were not modified, but yea we should test.

    I believe the reason for the change was they flagged some weird/rare weapons as "offhand" and not mainhand/offhand, but some sword and board players wanted to use these as mainhand weapons, without having to make them into weapon sets.

    anyways, test first, then complain.

    Ah fair enough jumped straight to weapon sets. Won't be patching until tonight the earliest for testing myself so I complained first

    tested it a lil bit.. Yea you cant make an offhand only weapon set anymore.

    and if u try to attack with just the offhand, u dont punch anymore, you automatically move the weapon to your mainhand and swing.

    Maybe can make scroll+offhand wep set tho. and since scrolls auto populate now, may work.

    I use more than one type of scroll (and more than one stack of Heal/Reconstruct scrolls).

    I'm not keen on the idea of making 37 distinct weapon sets that include each individual scroll + off-hand weapon combination.

    I actually liked to use a offhand weapon weapon set and then have a set of main weapons since when sometimes using the same offhand weapon, it was easier to notice the main hand weapons alone than on top of each others like with the weapon sets, and it was especially the case with scrolls. I'm not sure why they felt this change was needed because it seemed to be working correctly.

    Inside of changing it so that single weapons auto-move from left to right hand, they should set it so that a character with a weapon in the left hand and none in right will make attacks with the lefthand as the primary.

    know this is slightly offtopic...but...

    I think it would be neat if there was an option at character creation where you could choose weather you are right or left handed.....

    I mean really shouldn't I be able to have a left handed toon where my primary hand was my left....

    It's discrimination I say....

    Is there an option to not use this "feature" so that we can maintain a useful off-hand weapon while bouncing around from scroll to scroll (and periodically running out of scrolls in that stack)?

    I'm glad this has been caught on the test server before going live. If we see an option to switch this off, or if it just isn't implemented we'll know that lamannia has a purpose.

    I actually logged in to check this out. I was able to use a scroll in my mainhand and have a weapon in my off-hand. So, this should have zero effect on Master's Touch scrolls.

    • Fixing the wonky Lightning Sphere and Tactical Det firing by converting them to use alchemist spell arcing.
    • Redoing the drop rates of tomes in generic and raid loot tables.

    this.

    as of now i can have 3 off-hand weapon sets and 10 main hand weapons hot barred (that's a total of 13 weapons).

    this give me 30 combinations of weapons for the cost of 13 hotbar slots and two clicks of a mouse.

    this change would cost me 2.7 hotbars.

    though i don't, i could have 10 off-hand sets, 10 main weapons hot barred for 100 combinations for the cost of 20 hotbar slots and 2 mouse clicks.

    with this change i'll need 10 hotbars to do what 2 were capable of previously.

    if i'm misreading the change please let me know...

    Couldn't you just add in the most common main hand weapon into each of those sets?
    So instead of:

    Empty/Off-hand 1
    Empty/Off-hand 2
    Empty/Off-hand 3
    Main hand 1
    Main hand 2

    and so on...you do:

    Main hand 1/Off-hand 1
    Main hand 1/Off-hand 2
    Main hand 1/Off-hand 3
    Main hand 1
    Main hand 2

    and so on.

    Should work the same unless you have clickies in your off hand. ^^

    *OR (if I'm behind completely) were you able to just swap off hand weapons that way?
    i.e:
    Equipped: Main hand 1/Off Hand 2
    Click: Empty/Off Hand 1

    yes i could do as you suggested, but it uses up more hotbar space (personally, 30 slots instead of 13).

    it doesn't work quite like that. when ever you select the off hand weapon set the result is always one weapon fitted in your left hand and nothing in your right regardless of whether you had a weapon in your right hand first or not.

    but that's a minor inconvienice as i rarely change the left hand (it generally holds triple pos for the heal amp) and when i do it's 2 mouse clicks; first to select offhand, second to select main hand.

    if i just want to change the main hand it's only one click as normal.

    Well, what's wrong with the first suggestion then?
    Instead of going (let's say you want to swap from main hand 9/ off hand 1 to main hand 7/off hand 2)
    1: Main hand 9/Off Hand 1
    2: *click weapon set*: Empty/Off Hand 2
    3: *click main hand 7*: Main Hand 7/Off Hand 2

    you do

    1: Main hand 9/Off Hand 1
    2: *click weapon set*: Main Hand 1/Off Hand 2
    3: *click main hand 7*: Main Hand 7/Off Hand 2

    Same number of clicks, same numbers of slots etc.

    And when I was talking about "sets" I meant only those 3 sets, so..instead of empty/weapon 1, empty/weapon 2....you do weapon x/weapon 1, weapon x/weapon 2.
    In the end you'll just add weapon x (the most common weapon) where you before had an empty slot.

    You should get the same results, unless I've missed something major. ^^

    I haven't fully figured out the consequences yet.....but I'm sure it is a nerf.
