It gets easier... but yeah, a thankless job....
I liken a Divine to the Coach of a major sports team.... None of the glory when the team is doing well, al of the blame when it doesn't.
But the power you wield later on... well worth the pain of now... The point where I try to level without a group is from 7-9 (really 1-9), but 7-9 is the worst spot imo, Because this is when you can use RD scrolls, but don't have the RD spell... those same barbarians won't want to run the 5 feet to the shrine they are standing next to and scream bloody murder if "you" don't raise them with a scroll.... It's like RD shrines suddenly are removed from the game for them.
But it's well worth it, and if you get good at it, you'll almost never be turned away from a raid or epic.
(Say): Haywire says, '"Hey, I don't come into yer home and play with things."'
Yes, all the noobs, moaners and pileons might not run again with you. However, I play clerics and FvSs like a divine being that brings death (or banishment) and destruction. I am all for helping party members with healing if they deserve it and like the ones that take care of themselves a lot. Not one party member will take more than 10% of my playtime to keep alive. The more I heal, the less time I have for death and destruction and that is no fun. Unless we are in a boss fight.
That said, my first life was a cleric and all my other lives and characters are self-sufficient. Cleric past life is more than +2 to heal skill and +1 to conjuration DCs.
And many of them are TR people, and bad player. They think since they TRed and are the master race, they can obviously pull half the map, then try to self heal (and fail, because they don't have quicken), and die because they are roaming around a pillar/moving AWAY from you, and all your healing spells fail.
When I see 2+WF in a PU LFM, I don't join.
Sometimes you'll meet good people, giving you a mana pot, or wand just for being the healer. So, remember, when you see your heal being not too bad, doing his best to do his job, toss him a pot or a wand, it doesn't hurt, and he will be happy
Not really, I have let plenty of people die and I told people up front if you want healing make sure I am close by as I do not run fast and while I might seem godly I cannot heal half way across the dungeon, around corners and through walls.
If I run with people that cannot understand that, then it is best that I am on their blacklist as chances are they made mine
dont you know clerics sp is just an extention to melee health bars?
too bad i cant type it in an sarcastic voice. but the forrum doesnt allow me to .
yeah it is the way how the game is setup right now. pure healing types divines have trouble leveling due to being dependent on party's(and not getting any respect by doing so). because pre- update 11, 75% of the people solo on low levels anyway.
i think they introduced the bravery streak to get people to party more(healers are wanted again).
id roll an battle cleric or favorite soul and tr into one in the endgame to make it worthwhile . but thats just me, im an soloist by nature.
Ohhh I agree with both of y'all that the "exceptional" players deserve exactly what happens to them. Hell, while on my cleric I have taken a dead piker into the shrine room incrucible, summoned an earth ele ( remember when they used to go hostile when the summoner recalled) and the left group The point I was makeing is the pugging like you don't care and throwing a heal ever once in a while should be reserved for the idiots and not the public at large.

The question is though, why should anyone care? I'd actually consider it a good thing, all the nooblets will start avoiding you and you'll end up with better groups, with players who don't need babysitting but will certainly appreciate that there's a healer around to make stuff smoother and especially cheaper
Just bought the entire necro pack... i'm free to play.. To unleash some hell upon the undead...
Since I was level 8 I asked for a elite opener.. we went in on elite.. boy.. I was in over my head.. I'm currently flagged for blood crypt and can't wait to try it.
i feel you bro! As a battle cleric, sometimes i heal waaay better than a pure, and i even run through scrolls when the dire situation comes up! how do i do it? ardor clickie. its not worth it on the AH? bro, its a free empower heal. :3
what happened to the previous days? i heard they gave tips to the amazing clerics! lets bring that back up!
but i think its time for you to switch to radiant servant. screw the arcanes. they dont even pass out haste at that low level. if so, once every week. -_-" *shrugs* plays battle arcane 24/7 +spam haste
:3
A rogue is basically, "Look at me or die."
you can always pike the quest if you get sick of em, like that throw up feeling you get when people are just unspeakably pathetic and rude
i like the healing over time ability, forget the name, the one with the red plus, of course that uses your turns... it pops a little 2 over their heads every 2 seconds for 30 seconds. Great for people who have no pots or especially demand healing
i don't mind the ones who stand by me waiting to heal without saying anything, but not the ones who stand by me while they are at full health while I try to wand something to death because my hireling, who benefits from my augmented summoning feat, isn't there due to full party, and I probably forgot to summon beast cause I was trying to heal... anyway, rant aside...
I think I will try piking from now on... they can leave the quest and I will go back to beginning, summon hire and solo it. I guess piking in the res room would be smart, incase they drag some mobs to kill you
being an anti undead cleric with high wis and cha is kinda tough... but it is so fun to clear a room of undead with a successful turn, I'm still learning... I love my dwarf cleric with greataxe feat... no augsum

I understand
The first character I got to cap was a cleric and I had a lot of fun doing it most of the time. Very few times that I hated being a cleric and one of those 3 week stretches I gave up and started a few more characters so I could take a break from being thought of as a bit better than a hireling.
Came back and had a whole different attitude
the funniest part is that they don't know how to run

Best part about being a cleric... always a spot for me somewhere... even with those fancy shmancy construct essence arties,
