"I don't know half of you half as well as i should like, and i like less than half of you half as well as you deserve."
To be fair, the clonk that isn't spending sps doesn't really need the +1 DC, and can therefore use the timeblade just fine. Just because you have the stances doesn't mean you have to use them all the time. Grab your skiver, cove dagger, or whatnot. If you are haveing trouble landing spells, swap them out and go. You loose nothing, but gain the ability to boost your DC if needed.
The only thing about splashing melee is you have to wait for the Mass Heal spell.
My mass cures are struggling with lvl17-19 content because I dont have Ardor VIII belts yet. So alternating in combat my Mass Cure Light and Mass Cure Moderate with Ardor VI are the same as Mass Cure Serious and Mass Cure critical without Ardor.
Empower healing is always on, and Max for cures is expensive, but I have yet to try Empower added in. Just seems too expensive in sp.
Once I get the Ardor VIII clickie belts my Mass Serious and Mass Critical will be almost as good as Mass Heal.
It is just a game.
A bit sensitive about your build? Its not like I said "gimped", or for that matter "no solo ability".
When soloing, one of the main issues a cleric will run into is a lack of offensive firepower. Clerics have some nice spells, and the spells on a shallow splash build will be essentially as useful as the spells on a pure build. Unfortunately, clerics spells have built in limitations because DDO would prefer that people actually create toons of other classes as well.
Blade barrier is devastating, until you run into mobs that refuse to be kited. In that situation, it is worthless.
Implosion is a killer spell, with a one minute cooldown.
Divine Punishment is a great DoT, affecting one mob.
Destruction, another single target spell that at least only has a 5 seconds cooldown.
After that, you got some great buffs, heals, and a lot of meh.
Mixing in some meaningful melee ability allows you to plug the gaps that the devs shot through your spell book. It also allows you to deal some damage while your torc and con opp proc.
Non-helf pure clerics sole meaningful advantage? DI, which is situational useful, and from what I gather has some e.x.p.l.o.i.t.s that I am unaware of.
A helf with a fighter dilly splash can melee. It also has 2 fewer feats than a human 19/1 cleric/fighter.
A monk splash? I don't have one, but expect to roll one at some point. Its merits have already been discussed by other posters.
My 19/1 cleric/fighter has 10% healing amp, which results in an aura crit of 75. Heals, offensive casting and melee is a nice combo pack to have.
