Question Are any packs worth getting just for a rune arm?

More or less what it says on the tin. I've got an Artificer at level 6 and two ranks, and a little spare cash to toss around.

I already have the Korthos, Waterworks, and Catacombs pieces. Catacombs is also the only pack I have. I plan on picking up all (or most, at least) of the packs eventually.

Are there any other rune arms that would be worth buying a pack primarily for (with exp, favor, and other loot secondary/tertiary considerations)?

From what I have been told grab Delera's Tomb as it has Voice of the Master (+5% xp) and a really nice rune arm comes from it.

i'd advise against buying a pack just for a weapon you're likely to outlive quickly (as you'll want to replace said rune arm with another weapon later on down the road anyway). what server are you on? id reccomend buying gianthold first, there's a rune arm that drops in tor, but tor named items are notoriously rare. it''s fantastic xp, loot, and favor for the level, and very, very fun. it also accomodates the level range where free to play xp starts becoming skimpy. if you're looking for a specific weapon i'll get you a guest pass for whatever pack drops it, if it's in your level range; depending on the server i'll even help you farm one.

don't buy a pack just for a shiny trinket ^^

Tangleroot Gorge has a nice one A free fireball is always nice...and it has moderate fortification built in.....hopefully you get luckier than I.. I ran that thing three times in a row so far and nothing yet .. That quest chain can get repetitive depending on the group you're with.

the arm out of the subterran is nice specially if you have the the house c favor and crafting to make it a 13 instead of a 15ml. And is bound to account so you can farm it on a capped healer pretty easy solo.

Delera's is a good pack regardless of rune arm, and anyway, the one from it is pretty nice too. Also lots of other great end rewards (voice of the master, the neck UMD), and ton of xp. Not as repetitive as tangleroot i feel, some people hate undead though, so it's up to you.

The run arms are a nice bonus to packs if you get them, but you should get them to run the adventures, most packs have the arms as end rewards: http://ddowiki.com/page/Rune_Arm

The Spinterskull one is nice because of the medium fort it gives, which is expensive at that level. The Devourer's Hunger from Co6 packs a real punch for the level you get it. It's ML:7 and I was one-shotting stuff in the Vale with it on Lammania. It was way better than the other third tier arms I found (the one from Attack on Stormreach is good AoE damage, but it's fire based which starts to suck around that level). I never did get the one from Threnal (which is like the next one up from the Korthos one), though I'd advise anybody to never get that pack ever to be honest.

But if you're saving points just for one pack, get the Vale before anything else. You shouldn't give the tiniest **** about the Rune Arms if you're on a budget; get the pack that will give you the most play time. That's the Vale.

Well, the best rune arm in the game - by a long, long way - is Toven's Hammer from the new House C stuff.

Still, I'd buy packs for other reasons.
    I don't have a zerging problem.

    I'm zerging. That's YOUR problem.

Gianthold Tor Has three Rune arms. each of the dragons can drop one with corresponding elements. The whole area has decent quests & wilderness area & Raid. But you are still a few levels away from that, so i would say delera's due to quests where as tangleroot is the same over & over & over & over...

I'm on Cannith. Don't worry about a guest pass or anything, please! I do thank you for the offer, though.

The opinions on rune arms v packs has been helpful, thank you. I think I'll hold off for a week or two and see where leveling gets me. I'm glad I decided to ask--both for the insight and that doing so forced my brain to stop being so giddy about the class and think about the purchase a little more objectively.

The rune arm from there allows Arti's to crit the undead.

If you're just after a rune arm from a pack that will last you a long time, I'd suggest the one from Shan To Kor. It may be quite low level, but the I'm finding that the actual spell effect from it is superior to any of the others: Still using it at level 12 despite having some of the higher-tier ones.
The low tier means that you can use your overcharge enhancement to stay on the move and still get the best benefit.

As said by others however: don't buy a pack just for a rune arm. See if you can wrangle a guest pass for the duration of a run. Buy up a stack of potions and wands and go as a healer if needs be.

How about Red Fens - lots of nice set piece items (and epic mode) as well as the Pea-Shooter - alas it is a bit higher level, but you could start it at level 8 or so
    Eriar Tahlaer AA/Healer ShiC Drd/Rng/Ftr 17/2/1 - Cryme Otta TR B-Eng Arti 11 - Larue K'Dhar SDII Ftr/Pal 16/2
    Koroz PMII Wiz/Rog/Ftr 12/2/1 - Feevin Otta Rog 4

    Found in Sai Gon (Orien)

i ran Into the Deep way more times than I wanted to and the set pairs were nice. i got a craftable trinket to boot. i have a mech/arty lvl 13 and use the Pea Shooter more often than not. I seem to get a tiny bit more out of it vs. the Coronach.

huh. i had figured the fact that an artificer is likely to have force fully specced (ie better than a +50% increase in charge damage) would outweigh the lightning strike from toven's hammer. or are you also looking at the effect of the fully upgraded version?

(in any case, picking up the cannith pack seems like a good idea just because you can get some really nice gear out of it in general).
