Default MajMalphunktion : New Twist on Elite Weapons Shipment Failures (Large Image)

All right, so... we no longer have to protect the Planescaller after we're outside, right? We got her there alive, and there's this blue bubble shield to protect her from damage, whilst we take care of all the baddies, yeah? And "Keep Planescaller Alive" is no longer on the objectives list, yeah?

    Wrong.

Failed. Outside, on Elite, with both of us still standing out there, and both alive at the time.

What happened? Well, as you can see, there were a decent amount of mobs on the playing field. We were managing all right, Charming mobs, Fascinating mobs, sometimes just outright beating them down.

That's when I noticed.. that new blue ball barrier shield protecty-thingy? That normally is supposed to protect her until the end of the quest? It went away. I don't know when, but I noticed that it was gone, and that she was at 20% Health. I also noticed at the same time that I could not heal her - I would target her, and try to scroll her/SP-based Cures... nothing.

So, we now had an un-healable by us, but damage-able by enemies, NPC on our hands. I alert MsE, who says "well it doesn't matter, right? They took the part out about us failing if she dies, because all we have to do is get her here."

I say whatever, move on. Two minutes later... the above.

So, obviously there a problem here. The only thing that I can think that would have caused it is time - as you can tell by the ship buffs, we were probably in there at least 35 minutes. We were taking it slow and easy, seeing what strategies would work, which would not, and generally taking it easy. There was one part MsE just turtled up and get Concordant Opp charges back - too bad no Torc for either of us, or it would have been even better .

So yeah... I like the new Weapons Shipment, but this obvious seems like a bug with the implementation. I was of the understanding that the shield around her would stay up indefinitely until completion of quest, and if such is not the case, we should at least be able to Heal her when the shield drops.

Yes, I am bug reporting this.

Personally i'd just put it down to Mserikka being in your group.

Based on past experience with him, i hope your bug report reads:

Bug - NPC in elite weapons shipment is targetable by allied players, Arcane team mate of mine started nuking npc, regenned sp via con op and proceeded to kill said npc and cost me a completion.

    Odd.

I noticed the bubble disappear last night after one of our party members went in to shrine (on hard difficulty), but no mob attacked her and it didn't LOOK like she was taking any damage.

I did go in to Shrine. But he stayed outside, and at least for that portion of the fight, stayed alive. Still, as far as I understood things, as long as one PC is on the playing field, the "rules" were met, yeah?

Maybe the shrining is what's breaking the blue ball? Even if someone's outside at the time?

I know I ran this to ransack solo but because I was solo I always just shrined before I went outside. I never had this problem but if that was the trigger I wouldn't have expected it either.

Considering the conditions are for *a* person to stay outside, I'd be a little surprised that they didn't at least test someone stepping back inside to Shrine..

I experienced this myself last night with some guildies. We had one person shrining, one person dead and four running for their lives (as is normal in here)

We didn't notice the blue bubble disappear as we were a bit tied up with succubus and devils but all of a sudden we get dumped out the quest after the failure message.

Ran it twice more (once hard, once elite) and one of the two times (think it was the hard run), the bubble disappeared when a member went in to shrine. The mobs, at least in that case, still didn't attack her.

Maybe it's a side effect of cleave attacks or the hounds fire breath/fireballs. They don't seem to directly target her from what I've seen, but it might possibly be "splash damage" that she is still vulnerable to.

Any chance you were able to determine if "splash healing", like Mass Heals/Cures/your Aura/Bursts were capable of affecting her? We were kind of in a hurry, so I didn't think about it at the time. I just tried targeting for Heal Scrolls/Cure Crit.

I was on my Sorc at the time, sorry. Next time I run it on my Cleric I will check.
