    Default Equipment

Now that my Sorc has hit 16th and will be hitting the raids very soon.

What sort of equipment should I be looking at getting?
Currently I have a pair of gsteel goggles which I am about to start crafting the sp/cha skill on it.
But in terms of sceptors and robes and raid items, which are vital?

    I'm water savant too.

I would suggest making sure you have all your HP gear arranged, +6 Con item, Greater False Life, Minos helmet. You are not in the thick of things usually but you will be surprised at the amount of damage you will take. More HPs is a good thing.

Make sure you have your Major Ice Lore item and at least a Superior Potency VI item. I don't know if they come on regular items (i.e. not crafted or named) but a Superior Freeze VIII item is a nice boost as well. If these are not available you can purchase Superior Freeze V potions from Object Desire in House P. This will give your Niac's Biting cold a nice little boost over your generic potency item.

The last thing I will mention is get a heavy fortification item if you don't already. One random barbazu can cause havok on ya if you don't.

-+6 con item , get one of the belts from the amrath quests.
-CONC OPP greensteel item, goggles are the best slot atm.
-From raids like Vision of Destruction look for the Glacier set, bracers of the glacier/gloves the glacier.
-Make sure to max char for spells like fod/wail to clear trash in shroud/etc/etc.
-Cant think of any other items atm..good luck in your raids.
-Potency scepters 6th level and lower spells +50% damage..also amrath clickies for 75% damage for certain elements for 3 minutes...only if your a clicky freak.
-HEAVY FORT! i cannot stress this enough. being immune to critical hits/sneak is key.

I would say you want +6 con/cha, greater false life, and heavy fort. Even better would be a minos. Then, damage clickies (superior ice/elect) and remember to use them for your dots (and yes, please please please use those dots). After that, anything you can throw on to increase your hp (that you dont already have) and saves (gh/blur/displace scrolls especially if you dont have a way to get them already - not sure for stoneskin, dunno how starved you are on lvl 4 spells, but it can be a ***** to rebuff constantly). If you can get arcane lore/greater arcane lore from somewhere (necro 4 skiver or gianthold robes) that would also help you a ton.

Other than that, a lot of raids is about knowing what to expect. Look up the raids in wiki ahead of time. Especially for raids like hound or tod, tell your leader that its your first time (it might prevent you from getting groups with people who are jerks, but meh, likely not a huge loss, it was never an issue for me). Reiterating that, dont touch anything, and when you zone into an area dont move or run ahead of the group - you may break something or trigger a fight that your group isnt prepared for yet.

Currently in terms of equipment to what you people have mentioned:

I have a greater potency VII Sceptor
    Major Ice Lore Dagger
    Con 6 Necky
    Disease Immunity of GFL Belt
Wiz VII Helmet ((Once Goggles are crafted thinking of putting a minos here to allow for DT robes))
    Robe of Heavy Fort
I'll need to find freeze clickies so that I can use my polar ray to its max efficiency on end bosses

Belashyrra's Scepter from Lord of Eyes for Sup Glaciation VIII and Major Ice Lore.
Telvi's Sash from Bastion of Power for Sup Freeze VIII.

There's a variety of things you can do with items allowing most of your equipment to function has general flavor for other area's of enhancment. I'll give you a few examples on the equipment you can work towards:

Belt: +6Con and Greater False Life. The quests out in Shavarath have a few different belts which have the Con& GFL on them. Which one you choose shouldn't be any more complicated then which one drops first. The quest levels are at 19 so it could be one heck of a challenge for you.

Pos/pos/pos SP item with Charisma skills. (I use goggles) This is for spell points and the +6 it gives to UMD. Being able to hit a 39 UMD will allow you to use Heal Scrolls without failure which establishes your Sorcerer as a tremendous asset to any group you're in. It's possible that once you start using heal scrolls for healing you'll find yourself often saving a party from a total wipe.

Concordan Opposition Hitpoint item. (I use bracers) The extra 45 hitpoints is of tremendous value and cannot be ignored. The conOp will occasionaly give you HP and/or SP when you're hit. If you can also get it I would suggest pairing this with Torc of Prince Raiyum-de II which also gives back spellpoints. These items appear to proc' more frequently when being hit with piercing dmg, such as bats or arrows. If you were also able to get the Bramble-Casters you could mitigate most of the arrow dmg from archers and let a steady stream of SP's recharge you in the middle of combat.

Belashyrra's Scepter is THE item to have when it's time to nuke that raid boss. Charge up a clicky, hit the boss with Awaken Elemental Weakness and be amazed at those huge purple numbers!

Gloves of the Glacier. This is a good item for the reduction of spell point costs when casting your damaging spells. It has Effecient Maximize II and Extend II. The primary benefit will be the -4 sp cost on your normal nuking spells but anything that can be extended will recieve a -2 in sp cost as well. While not a necessity it could help prolong your nuking power.

Minos Legend. (helm) This item is stupid generic. Heavy Fortification and +20 hitpoints.

I would also like to suggest trying to think outside the box with your character. Look at these items and try to identify how much freedom you have with the rest of your equipment slots. Try to establish some flavor with the other items you choose. Experiment and have fun.

Fanion. (shield) This is an awesome item for a caster. Magi and Greater False Life and no spell failure. You could possible use the Skyvault Shield prior to this but it's not quite as good.

Note of experiance: If you identify a few objects that you wouldn't need to have equiped all the time and see something else in that same spot which could provide a benefit don't be afraid to swap them out during the course of your adventure. From experiance I'd like to suggest not swaping more then 2 or 3 items to make things easier. In a situation like this you could enter a quest, buff up the party, then swap out 1-2 items for another type of benefit. I've found bracers and gloves to be the most freindly in terms of an item swapping. What I end up doing is swapping out items at a certain point which pushes my Elf Sorc's AC up into the high 60's with only self buffs and into the 70's with a raid party.

The easiest item to get for a water savant that will greatly boost your DPS is Telvi's Sash from Bastion of Power, since it boosts your polar ray by 75% as well as your DoT.

The clickies on Amrath belts are the main reason why I'm reluctant to slot hp stuff on my belts, because losing hp any time I use them is a bad idea, imo.

Other than that, try to plan out one hp and one sp GS, and try to slot con-opp on one of them. To me, slotting it on the hp makes more sense since you need the hp and con-opp all the time, while you only need the sp until you've used the extra.

The glacier set is nice, but the clickies from Telvi's Sash and random loot (superior freeze VI is good enough for most non-boss mobs) are much better.
