    Default Favored Archer

    I have been thinking about trying to make a favored soul using the silver flame line. I first thought if I am going to use longbows might as well look at arcane archer. After looking more at the changes to stunning fists (effecting total character level versus just monk level), it pushed me to multiclass. I thought I can not really on ranged alone so those fists could come in handy. I wish I could stay straight favored soul, but that would remove improved precise shot.

    I made this preliminary build in mind of skipping the requirements of bow strength by going ranger dilettante with a half-elf, but I know I am losing elf damage from the long bow then. I always plan to have an item to raise my charisma to the minimum amount needed to cast spells, and planning to use the Wrath of Sora Kell set as soon as possible. Anyway I am hoping for some advice about this build or any better way ideas.

    Had a similar build, with ranger instead of fighter. Ranger gets you two bow feats (rapid shot, bow strength), as well as the first tier of TWF for your fists, and 2 damage against one favored enemy. You'd lose fighter strength, but could then take human strength to replace it. Not sure how much you really need all 7 toughness enhancements, either. Those higher tiers are super expensive.

    My main issue with your version, though, is that you're spread really thin. Almost all levelups in wisdom suggests a DC caster, but without heighten. Maximize and smiting enhancements but no empower gives a suboptimal divine punishment. Maximize but no empower heal or healing enhancements gives really bad mass cures. Low starting strength and levels in wisdom limits your damage, just as using ranger dilettante instead of bow strength does. In the end, you'll be marginal at a lot of things.

    You'll find your toon is much more potent if you leave off one of your focuses. Drop the bow, and you can be an excellent DC/damage caster/healer. Drop the DC's, and you could make a pretty good dps/healer. Drop the healing... well, if you do that, lose the favored soul icon please.


    The build is fun, and it will function in normal pug raids. If you're into epics or higher difficulties, you'll struggle.

    The smiting lines are for the angel of vengeance. I was mainly thinking that extra 30% to blade barrier damage. Main idea was planned to do blade barrier and kite critters. Healing well since going level 16 I would not have access to mass heal. I could not do human and be arcane archer. The toughness lines are there because really nothing else to pick unless trying to concentrate on more healing enhancements. I did not do any of them but toughness 4 could easily be dropped for healing increases. As for bow strength I think I am ok since it is low, I can not keep a maxed wisdom and strength. I am focusing on more combat casting, but I will not have heighten or lvl 9 spells. I am wondering if that is bad for being more of a nuker. Hence I thought empower is good but that extra bit would go without.

    I made a very small adjustment dropping toughness 4 and the half-elf dex to getting the heal lines up to 3.

    With the gear added I will have.

    Ranged alacrity 10% (competence, stacks to enhancement bonuses such as Haste spell)
    6th level and lower spells 40% increase
    +2 Attack and +2 Damage
    True Seeing as well
