As to the problem above, you probably just need to fix your permissions for the DDO directory. It writes back in a way that doesn't play nice unless you are admin on XP and can still need tinkering on W7 even if you are an admin.
XP is not a system where you can really do much if you're not admin. I spose you could set up something for your kid to surf the internet, but you can't create a non-admin account for normal use to be "safe," that wasn't IMHO really ever ready for primetime. I know, i tried

Heard bad things about vista, but sad to hear that windows still hasn't got this stuff worked out. I believe linux does, but then they started from unix concepts, a system where by default only actual admins need admin

Not liking what i'm hearing in the world of Heals, especially the big SP Pot consumption on harder difficulties

Ah, I love the sound of sarcasm in the afternoon.

Seriously, This, unasked for, change is probably going to finish killing PUG healing.
And greatly reduce the availability of healing characters in guilds.

A real easy fix is for Turbine make it where we can make custom UI instead of Just Skins. Simple putting all the ui files in a folder together in xml and then the player can worry with the ui and let Turbine worry with content.

OMG where to start!! LOL The UI suxs!! The loss of party names on map suxs!! The amount of pots needed to complete things is silly now! (Tried elite VOD normally use 1 pot maybe 2, well thankfully most of my toons will never need that favor again) VOD elite is insane now, the lightning and fireballs all got boost and even I got feared a few times with like 48 will save! Add that to his normal string of curses and trash and a ton more hps even wf won't help. I"m curious how other ELITE raids are goin (ones most did without trouble) even Epic von 6 was rough on pots with 4x healers (2 were melee/backup). At this rate people are goin to have to pay for heals with pots for anything over normal!

I'm getting depressed looking at the pre-U11 nice, useable, functional, easy-to-read, no-self-portrait screenshots in the Achievements forum. Even getting a little misty-eyed.

Remember how nice this UI was?

Of all the things in this game that has issues and needed time spent on fixing, why the F do you mess with something that NO ONE had an issue with?

    Ok.

I am 44. I play on a little monitor. I know I can go buy a bigger one. I like my current setup though. I could see the old UI well. I have trouble with the new UI.

Why do you hate old people?

So Tolero, in another thread (http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=341640) said that this was the thread we should post in if we wanted to discuss the new UI as they are "actively aggregating the feedback and types of issues that need addressed"

First of all, if this is the thread you want us to post in can we PLEASE get some sort of response in this thread indicating as such? If you are "actively aggregating the feedback and types of issues that need addressed" in this thread, can you please POST in this thread to let people know that?

My comments are not that different that other comments, but I'll post them nevertheless to add my voice. My main issues with the new UI are:

    1. Takes up too much space. I had to make my chat box quite a bit smaller to fit this in, and I don't have room for my personal HP/SP bar below it, I had to move that somewhere else.

    2. I don't want to see Artificer dog's HP. That should be available for the Artificer only, and it should be a specific hotkey to select it. If I as a healer can't select F1 through f12 to select something, it doesn't get healed. And heck, even if I could I probably wouldn't heal an Arti's dog anyway.

    3. HP/SP numbers are too small to be useful during combat, and they distract from being able to see the HP/SP bars, which actually ARE useful to see during combat.

    4. HP/SP bars should be longer, making it easier to see the total amount of bar left as a fraction of total bar.

    5. Names above bars are difficult to see, especially during combat, and take up too much space.

    6. The colour of the overall bar doesn't change when a person DCs, only the name, and the change is so small it is hard to notice.

+1 to the 'new UI is horrible for healers'

I want a ui where can i chose to see the hp/sp numbers for my toon and not for everyone. Cant do just that with new ui. The bars are way too small to easily see. Bad bad bad. Old ui please.

I think all new UI issues are pretty much covered up now.

But one thing I keep thinking whenever I see a non-caster gauge is:
    Monk: HP and Ki (check)
Multiclass Caster/Monk: HP, SP and Ki (check)

Ok, so far but WHY non-caster, non-monk classes have an empty SP area when we know they won't have SP at all?
I think those classes should have all the gauge area filled up red with HP.
    To show theirs "boldness/gimpness". LMAO

Huge red bars to the barbs!!!
    I don't care...

I would like to know if a dev or forum moderator has commented on any of these UI threads.

I would just like some feedback from turbine whether you are even listening to us, or just putting your fingers in your ears.

If it is not going to be changed, tell us.

If it is going to be changed, tell us.

If it is still in discussion there, tell us.

I appreciate the hard work that went into this update, but letting us all hang out here is not great customer service.

I'd love to be able to position each party member's bar independently. Too much to ask prolly, but it would help me make my overall UI more streamlined. Particularly in quests where the party splits, or for zerg runs where we buddy up.

Thank You Fejj. There have been too many threads to keep track of.

That post does not appear in dev tracker so it s hard for people to know what to do, nor is there any indication that they are aggregating threads

It's quite simple the old party/indivividual HP/SP UI was fine, it worked well, it was easily read, and was very functional. Doing a "SLIGHT" modification if for some reason the need is there due to Arti dogs, OK.. But the complete redesign, and changing all the very easy to use/read functions was totally unnneccesary. I haven't heard or seen 1 person that has the burning need to see a portrait of their char on their individual bar. Put the much loved auto-attack back on it.

I very rarely ever heard any complaints about the old UI over the last 5 years. The only thing I ever did hear was the desire to be able to move the various party member orders around. Otherwise it was fine the way it was. Again, if for some burning reason the Devs feel the need to give the rest of the party uneeded and unwanted information on some Arti-dog, simply implement it the way you did the 3 class bar situation, meaning a char that had red/blue/yellow bars, add a purple for the dog. I see no reason in the future for the whole party to see what a particular familiar/friend/summon of a single players has as far as SP or whatever else.

Big, ugly (IMO) clunky/fancy colors/blocky/ornate or whatever else does not make something functional in an active game. Clear and concise does...... The old size/color/design was fine for 99% of the population, the new one is for 1-5% at most.

    1. Too hard to see altogether.
    2. Too hard to tell who you have highlight/targeted
    3. Too hard to see if your voice is active
    3. Too hard to see if someone is DC'd or not
    4. Individual bar WAY too big
    5. We don't need to see our characters face.
    6. A LOT of people like auto-attack, without taking up hotbar space
    7. If you REALLY feel the need to have everybodies HP/SP listed in party, fine but at least give the option to have the parties off and still leave it in the individual bar at the bottom of the screen.

That's a start... From my point of view.....
