Default Feedback on the new UI bars - healing is more difficult now

This new UI sucks. SUCKS. Like healers don't already have enough hotbars to work with, now my screen is utterly cramped due to the new party UI.

Before you suggest that I keymap stuff, the game reverts all my key bindings to default every time I log. I need to be able to click on the **** I want to use/heal/buff with.

It was fine the way it was, now it looks utterly ridiculous and is completely unusable. I'm really ready to quit this game...

Sorry to hear that, I'm no healer(anymore, since they nerfed me awhile back) but I am frustrated with this annoying set up as well. Not enough to quit, but to each his own.

I also dislike the new interface (assuming its the same as Lama).

As to the problem above, you probably just need to fix your permissions for the DDO directory. It writes back in a way that doesn't play nice unless you are admin on XP and can still need tinkering on W7 even if you are an admin.

Like I said in another UI thread, The UI party bars are far too small now. The numbers for HP and SP are too small, and the bar itself is too small, which will make it more difficult for me, who plays a healer, to decide when someone needs to be healed because I can't read the numbers, and the numbers block the life bar. And I definitely agree that it takes up too much space.

Instead of making them smaller to accommodate the artificer pet, a better way of doing it is to put the bars closer together, rather than have so much space between each bar. That, or perhaps have the HP and the SP on the one line, like:
    [ HP / SP ]
    [Iron Defender when applicable]
    instead of:
    [ HP ]
    [ SP ]
    [Iron Defender when applicable]

I think that might make more sense, and to be honest? the width they were before was fine, so why not keep that width, and just as SP beside the HP so that the bars take up less space? I would also like the option back to have my HP bar both in the party list, and at the bottom near my chat window. I'll forget to heal myself now that they've changed it.

I agree with this. It is really hard to heal now. You need to focus on the bars.

I'm hoping it's just an adjustment period.

So I am not used to the party members being all spread out like that and it's hard to see because the colours blend into the background and are much smaller phyiscally (I'm ignoring those numbers - I want bars). I tend to target using F1-12 for party members and I'm having problems mapping that in my head quickly atm.

But I figure if I can grab tiny target (mobs) at a distanceand reflexively target those, it's probably only a matter of time and practice before my eye and my hands can reflexsively target my party members.

So yeah... in the meantime... that's my excuse for why you're dead... (and I had better think up another one for like in a month's time...)

Just play a battle-cleric or a melee FvS, then you don't ever have to worry about those other red bars. Quite frankly they're annoying regardless of the size.

Adding a background colour instead of transparency to half filled health bars would help a lot. Right now, the bars blend in to the background so much that some areas, it's practically impossible to tell exactly at a quick glance how high someone is.

In time, I may get used to reading the numbers, but I haven't adjusted yet away from "percentile" bars.

Areas where I think it'll be a problem include ToD part 1, due to the lava colour blending in so much with the red bars.
Also, anywhere when you're healing in the middle of an Otto's Dancing Sphere or some other AoE CC, due to a highly distracting background to the bars.

    Quick thought:
    1. Go into ui settings
    2. Take a gander just above tooltip delay slider
    3. Try
      • disable: show large vitals bar
      • enable: show party ui vitals bar for you
      • disable: show portrait on vitals bar
      • I suggest both of these*
        • disable: show vitals bar values
        • enable: show vitals bar percentage values

    May help some.
    * = This may help significantly if you liked the old bar look, its not Ideal(I too hate the shrinkage), but a ##% should help if BG transparency is tripping you up.

Thumbs down New UI is Terrible

The title says it all: the new UI is terrible.

I dislike writing posts with negative comments but I am making an exception in this case. The new UI is bulky to the point of unusable, it has a non-intuitive configuration, and I can't imagine what it's going to look like in a raid, let alone a full party, due to it's large size.

The absence of the auto-attack button on the focus orb is a terrible change as well. Now I have to find a spot on a hotbar to place that dumb icon. And since I will have to find a way to collapse some bars in order to fit in the ridiculously huge party-member list I am already going to be losing space and I have no idea where I'm going to put it.

I can live through all sorts of nerfs to spells, feats, enhancements, and gear. That just requires an adjustment to tactics and gameplay. But changes to the UI should be given greater consideration as that directly affects the gaming experience and the playability of the game as a whole. And this, without a doubt, is a change that is negatively impacting my overall enjoyment of the game. I simply can't have fun if I can't play, no matter what other changes are made to the game mechanics.

The new UI is awful. Please change it back until you find a better solution.

Seriously - I did Elite Weapons Shipment and I more or less ended up not worrying about them. I basically couldn't see anyone's health bar in all the insanity, and just told people to try to stay near me and I would toss a mass cure or burst now and then when my HP got low. Ran it on a melee and the healer did the same thing, I just made sure I stayed with him wherever he went.

The new UI really needs a makeover, or they need to let us select the old UI - it seems obvious that whoever designed it and implemented it didn't test it with a Divine character in a "real-world" situation (if that term even applies to a game??)

Just healed an E-DQ to see what it would be like...... With the addded boss dps, added boss HP's... OK, could deal with that.. But with this poorly thought out, poorly designed, poorly implemented HORRID new party UI I had to over heal to compensate for not being able to quik read the parties health.

Back to to being an auto-attack no resources melee, and playing wizzy/sorcs....
