Not really. I have no problem with how it looks now, and I like the vitals numbers.
Remember you can toggle it to a smaller format in options.
Yep. Lots of discussion on Lamannia. Very few actually liked it.
At least they fixed the "cuts off the bottom person" problem.
But, yeah, that's way too much wasted space.
The HP/SP numbers, on the other hand, are very welcome, to me. But not everyone likes them.
What I want to know is whether or not they fixed the sloppy UI problem that caused those with both a mana AND a Ki bar to become illegible (the numbers for both would overlap, rendering it difficult (at least for other party members) to gauge you mana via reading the numbers [the length of the blue and yellow bars should still be visible though]).
Somehow, I get the feeling that that may still be a problem. :/

Fernian Summer Carnival
From a healers perspective... Yes its nice to have the numbers, but its really hard to tell when someone needs a heal. Too much information, really bad look...
I dont like it at all, tried to hide it behind my favorite skin but meh... skins must be updated too...
Plz bring back the iold UI, it's terrible now! It's the worst part of this update!
CAPTAIN'S CREW - GHALLANDA
The new thing, it's bad and I want my money back.

I quit ... Until Next time.
I Found a way to still play my cleric! Im just gonna be a self healing tank =D / cant heal party members anymore because the crappy party UI, but I can still enjoy this class, now, just have to put a sticky note over the new party UI and my ocd wont bug me!
No, you can't toggle the wastefully-laid-out but illegibly-small Party list. The list is permanent in size, with shorter bars than before (making it less readable) and dead space between every party member for the non-existent Artificer Pets we don't all have (making it take up way more room than before).
But, this was all vehemently hashed-out on the Lamannia forums anyway...
Author of Info Blue UI Skin (Really wish Turbine would update the skinning interface and enable all the new UI parts.)
If you don't have an SSD, you should be using DDOPreload (fixes the slow first login issue)
I have less than excellent eyesight. The tiny party UI bars alone, without any frou-frou, are too small for me to feasibly use. As my favorite character to play is my cleric, I came to rely on being able to see how many HP/SP I had remaining, especially in a raid system. Now, in order to get that, I have to have those same numbers on for everyone else in my party, cluttering up the already itty bitty bars.
I can't do it. I can't put myself through continuing to play a beloved character when I get headaches from staring at small areas, trying to figure out who's dying and who isn't. 6 people is nigh unto impossible for me. 12 isn't doable at all.
So, thanks Turbine, for the 2 great years. My sub runs out at the beginning of next month. If a way to grow those party bars isn't introduced by then, I'm canceling my sub and calling it quits. I will not hurt myself to play this game.

I like the changes to the ui.
Bug template! QA is here for you.
How random DD is
how to handle this random, anywhere

i agree with most of this.
fundamentally this is Turbine's issue, in that they changed the "default" view of the interface beneath the users of their software. Any radical changes such as what has happened with the party bars should have been an option which users could enable. not the other way around.
as for the customizable aspect, i see it as two distinct things that should be considered, and shouldnt be too hard to implement. sure, there are other major issues such as adjustable font sizes and scalable UI panels etc but the following features should be the core of a user configurable interface:
1) allow users to reconfigure their interface to suit their play style/requirements/screen layout
2) allow skinners/modders to fully control the layout of all the panels and entities within the UI, not just the gfx
at present they're about 50% through each of these. barely.
yes users can reposition things on screen but the locations shift everytime you logout/login making it worthless to spend much time getting exactly the layout you want. secondly theres no way to transfer UI settings and layouts between characters, which is just nuts.
as for the second option the inability for skin authors to fully manipulate the construction of the UI elements and panels means we're pretty much hamstrung by the UI decisions made by the devs. And its clear that many parts of the interface havent had any attention paid to them since day one. I can appreciate there's lots of new things that the devs would rather be working on the company surely has different priorities than addressing the interface, but me? when i have spare time i'm happy to put it toward improving and personalising the UI of the game i've been playing for over 5 years. If other users find my UI changes useful then that's great.
so Turbine, please, stop forcing "improvements" to the UI onto your player base, and let those of us with the interest in improving the UI help.
Yes! For the love of God listen to these people Turbine! This seems like such a no brainer to me. Many of the other posts about this also mention Lamannia. I have never bothered with it myself. So, I take a look at some of the threads there, and sure enough there is a huge thread on the UI changes. It scares the hell out of me that Turbine saw this train wreck coming and let it happen anyways. Seriously, what is going on?
