Thumbs down vip screwed me over

so yesterday the last day of the bonus turbine points deal i finally bought VIP. so, after about an hour the transaction went through and i started new characters and and classes and was about to start playing adventure packs today and get veteran status with the 1000 turbine points. this morning when i go to log on i have no VIP access. why would DDO give me the ability to play VIP if it didnt have my money? i think what happened was after i played VIP for a few hours last night. i went grocery shopping and spent the rest of the money on my card. so i have like eight dollars left on the card. why would DDO let me play VIP if it did not have my money?

i am going to the store now to put more money on my card. get more minutes for my phone. and figure all of this out. i want that one thousand points that i should have had! my DDO vip started yesterday during the special offer. just because DDO let me play with out them getting my money yet is not my fault. it said the transaction was done....ill be back in about a half hour hopefully i will have some sort of good news.

well, yes it is. they should not let you play VIP unless the money transaction went through. if they would have given me any type of notification that there may be a delay in when the money would be withdrawn from my account i would have made sure to keep enough money in my account....simple as that.

sorta like a bounced check... sounds like you intentionally spent the money in the card before waiting for the transaction to go through...

Sign of the times. Make a mistake, anyones fault but your own.

Me, I would have been happy to get something I hadnt' paid for, even if only for a while.
Him, he just calls it a click tease and gets angry about it.
A friend will bail you out of jail.
A mate will be sitting in there beside you saying "**** that was awsome!!!"

True. Plus maybe a simple lack of basic math skills.

Well, if you have $50 in your checking account, write a check for $40 and then withdraw $30 before the check clears, do you get angry when the check bounces?

Sounds like there was a screwing-over attempt, all right, but not on Turbine's part...

every other game or function i had to pay for online they would not let me access the game until the transaction was done. whe i play TAO there is a 24 hour waiting period for the billing to clear before you are aloud too play. same with runescape and other things like webcam sites and when you order stuff to be delivered. they do not ship you your item till the transaction is complete. or they hold it in shipping before it is delivered.

that was my only point about it. but turbine did manage to fix the problem and i got my bonus XP and i ever think they gave me a month free. as i should not have P2P right now and still have it.

its just very strange. it seems as if you can put in a fake credit card number every other day and play P2P for free till the end of time.

Well now that's what's called credit card fraud, and can land you in jail.

As for Turbine, they do their billing in batches at specific times. Many retailers work this way.

Ive had several issues like this and have spent a few minutes w/ the CSR's (great help & response) on the phone.

The billing cycle actually goes thru after 11pm eastern. and the transaction is on next days business.
The points show up after that transaction has cleared, and not when you pay for or change your account info.

    Hope this helps.

So we are now faulting a company for having a Trusting policy as it comes to Transaction. This type of policy helps them from being crippled by calls from people who have paid and have the money. The kind of clients any business would want.

As a point, even if the Card Clears it is still possible for transactions to be reversed. As already stated it is most likely what is happening is a two step process.

    • Initial verification for valid card <- #, billing address, a transaction can occur
    • Batch Process of cards on file <- where the verification occurs once again. Depending on company this can occur any number of times during the day.

There are two ways monies can be accessed from your account when paying by card, depending on the routing. The most prevalent is the money is immediately taken from your account and is electronically transferred to the other party. Sometime, depending on system traffic (bank traffic), or communication between banks, they will send a 'funds available?' signal. If it comes back yes, things fly by, and the transaction occurs when system traffic calms down, usually near 5pm eastern time. If at that time other transactions occur, the signal gets changed to 'no, no current funds available', and it is declined at that point in time. With this being a Monday after a three day weekend, I am fairly certain the heavy traffic kicked and delayed the transaction.
