The only ones who know this are Turbine staff, and they are not likely to release that information. As far as I can remember they never tell us the cost on things like this, we have to wait for launch to find out.

Self respect is overrated. Control of the masses is really where it's at.

Or, one could argue that you're technically only putting off your self respect until the favor is released to get it back, no? So is that renting it? or more of a lease-to-own option?

When I pay for a product, I expect that product to work as advertised and as purchased.

If I buy a new Corvette, can GM suddenly at any time, days or years later, decide to show up at my house and reprogram the PCM causing a massive decrease in horsepower?

If favored souls happened to be a cash item / points item and now their wings are getting clipped, isn't that the same thing?

Now those of you who are about to pay cash for an artificer, how will you react when they nerf spells, rune arms, etc. over the course of time?

Indeed, them nerfing a free or favor based class is a whole different ball of wax than nerfing something like this current class implementation that folks either HAD to purchase or wait for months to get..


The rage quitting would probably reach an all time high. There might even be dogs and cats living together in true harmony. Quite the end of the world scenario. Seriously.. tho. Could be very bad.

By the same token, why advertise Veteran status on sale this week if you can't use it on the new class?

my guess is 900~1200 tp.. but really no point buying it.. since it is a unfinished class.. they nerf it badly like weeks ago. atleast i won't even consider this class before they they rebalance it.

The fundamental difference here is that you aren't buying DDO. You are effectively given a limited license to use the DDO game servers. I'm not terribly great at reading licenses, but last I knew most MMOs state that you don't own your character. Turbine's TOS states that they may even delete your account at any moment for any or no reason at all.

I can understand frustration when something someone previously was paying for suddenly gets changed without any warning. But I'm also annoyed at those people who feel like they deserve something when they have effectively been signing, by accepting said agreements when they go to log in, a license that states they don't. It annoys me even more when anything remotely interesting on DDO's forums are being drowned out by non-stop complainers who, at the end of the day, just keep paying.

Artificer were never going to be free for V.I.P, they require a favor unlock(availability aside) for ulock on one server or pay to unlock on all servers. This is not free, unlike monk which is free to V.I.P. and must be purchased by premium.

Turbine post f2p has not released any free to V.I.P. classes as FVS is favor unlock as well.

You actually haven't bought anything you have paid a license to access turbines property. Turbine retains the right to change that access at any time. In fact you don't even own the copy of Windows on your PC you are given a license to use it by Microsoft.

I'll act just like I do when despite my sub I get nerfed or something taken away or added I think is ridiculous. I will huff rant then go back to playing.

I dont like the wing clip much but for me its not the end of the world I only used them situation ally since my favored soul is more melee then leaping with barriers. I guess I could be up in arms about it but Im more wanting information that I know now I wont be getting (Ie price before Monday).

Thats all we can do if we decide to stay though deal with the changes and figure out which one will be the one that broke the camels back.

To say you "haven't bought anything" is a gross misstatement of the law. Just because you don't have all the legal rights of full ownership doesn't mean that you have no legal rights. And, you're not "given a licence" as that implies a gratuitous promise of future access, you purchase a licence with consideration and have a legal right to that licence.
